See the Empire of the Sun thread. The shooting strategy was an idea proposed by Tom Stoppard. There are moments of the subjective blending into the objective in Spielberg's films before and since Empire (The Color Purple, Schindler's List), but Empire leans into it hard.

It's true, Empire is unique among his films that way, especially because those transitions aren't made literal and 1000% clear, like in Munich. It's never entirely obvious whether what we're seeing is totally real or not, which is something I somehow seemed to get on some level as a kid, seeing the film at Jim's age, and which was always one of the film's joys, to me.

Says this may as well have been a 4K SDR in an 4K HDR container. I have no idea since I do not have the disc myself.

That doesn’t surprise me, you could tell from watching in theaters that the highlights had a specific look to them. Should still be a stunning disc.

I checked my email account this morning and saw a notice from Amazon that my order is on its way. Amazon is sending it via UPS, which is its slowest partner (at least in my experience), so I estimate it will get here either on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

That's okay. While I am a bit disappointed that I pre-ordered this in the hope of getting my copy on "release week," at least the uncertainty of whether or not Amazon was going to send it before March is a thing of the past.

I hope you receive your copy from GRUV soon!

got my copy from walmart online i was upstairs open up door few mins ago saw package fed ex sitting on steps front porch it's a shame walmart store didn't actually had this tues night

i didn't know until that night i could had maybe went to nashville yesterday and went to best buy got this but had to stay home watch dog while my mom went to doctor appointment oh well

I ran into the same issue. I went into the Movies Anywhere app and it appears the my Apple account was disconnected. Reconnected it and Fabelmans still isn't showing for some reason.

It's showing everywhere else (Vudu, YouTube, Amazon, etc.) - just not Apple.

I'm glad you got your copy. One of my friends is a NYC-based character actor who had a bit part in Spielberg's War of the Worlds (Boston Soldier #1). He and his wife own Popcorn Sky Productions (I've written a few scripts for them, so I'm officially a screenwriter thanks to them!), and they get "screeners" for awards consideration.

My friend saw The Fabelmans via screener, and he says The Fabelmans is the best movie of 2022.

Of course, that's just his opinion, but I think you'll like it, too.

Meanwhile, my copy shipped last night from the Cleveland (Ohio) area. In theory, it could get to Florida tonight (it's coming to the Tampa Bay area by ground UPS), but I'm sure that safety regulations and human limitations on the driver will make rest stops and scanning at UPS facilities necessary, so I probably won't get my 4K set till Monday.
