Worse. Sections of episodes are missing. In All that Jazz 17:30 on the DVD, TC tells the gang to blur. It's about a 10 second part completely cut out. I noticed sections were missing on the MeTV streams I thought they were just cutting the episodes for time, but there all on the Blu ray as well.

They talk of such high quality and effort on the podcast and the products they put out no longer reflect that.

I wasn't going to bring up the slight differences in the cropping to the DVD. But how did this get past QC?

Update: Both issues I mentioned on all that jazz, and the missing heir. These are issues that aren't present on the DVD, but are present on the older turner broadcast.

That’s good news still not happy about them messing up the compression for the show color wise as I haven’t even started watching the show yet as my copy got delivered today while I was at work. So I have not gotten to rewatching the show yet.

Is Top Cat being released in 4K ? is there a relase date ?

Can you offer a little more information: is this just one frame? is it like that for the just one sequence/angle or is it the entire episode? which episode is it and at what time code?

It's "The Missing Heir", and it's just that one shot. The old syndicated copy looked like that, too. With the syndicated cuts as a guide and the compression issue (they cap at 6 gigs an episode) they clearly got lackadaisical with this release.

This mentality of "better buy it, or else" needs to go away. The reason why so many people were so hesitant to get Porky 101 was because it was a fully priced set that had many flaws. This Top Cat release is in a similar situation, we should expect better from these companies instead of accepting mediocrity.

No, but damn would this set benefit from H.265.

It would just benefit from being encoded competently. If they used H.265 they’d screw up even worse.

I agree, but the problem is usually lack of any alternatives to own it:
Digital is basically rent only
The original DVD release is from era known to suffer DVD rot
The DVD re-releases were over compressed too (10 episodes per DVD)

All this talk about macroblocking/encoding is so frustrating. I was really looking forward to this blu-ray release and retiring my DVDs. I hate NOT to support a Hanna-Barbera WAC blu release. But if the upgrades are hampered by new quality issues, I think I will pass and keep my DVDs and (unfortunately) consider it a wash.

Besides All That Jazz, are any of the other episodes missing footage that’s present on the old DVD?

Yeah I wanna know too. I'm still interested in getting this set but I want to know if there are other syndication edits
