This is another one that I saw twice in theaters when it was released, thanks to my AMC Stubs membership. I was still taken off guard by how great the 4K disc looks.

Naomi Scott should have been nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award. There is no way that an actress from a horror sequel would be in that queue, but she would have been nominated in a better world than this one.

I agree she should have been nominated. I think Madison would still be my pick but this would definitely would have been my pick for BP!

I saw Anora for the second time yesterday, after having seen it when it was first released.

I agree that Mikey Madison was the clear winner, even over Demi Moore. I would love for Naomi Scott to have been nominated, though.

I watched this with my fiancée just last night and after the movie we started a small discussion about how many great performances were overlooked each year because of the genre a film fell into. This was a horror movie sequel, and with "The Substance" out there it had no chance. But Scott's performance was top tier. Still, this is a very well-made film that performed well at the box office. It's hard to overlook it.

For me it did not in any way really match the original. That film gave me the damn creeps in headphones late at night. Absolutely nutter film with good sound design too.

This one was cray cray. She looks so gorgeous in this film, and it's hard to take your eyes off it. It's also pretty creative, and there were times I actually just wanted to dance along with the music they were doing lmao. I was like F this film let's party.

But yeah the film kinda doesn't have, or maybe even need, the same evil factor. I'm not sure I really like it though. I thought toward the end it starts running out of steam a bit. It wasn't really going anywhere to me, but it still had some grip.

The costume and make-up people did such a stellar job on this one. Their queen looked and acted the part. First one to me is a horror classic. This is a neat follow-up.

That's where I was going as well, but I still feel they could have pulled it off better. For whatever reasons, this film more or less chooses aesthetics over horror, and in doing that some of the main sequences start to just become a rolling vibe check in that the actual story line starts to deteriorate in favor of those sequences and the aesthetic quality. You can tell they jump from here to here to here with guzzling water all the time lol, and I started to become way less immersed than in the first one, which even today I feel is a near classic in horror.

Not saying it's bad, but I don't think they spent enough time on this script at all. It doesn't hold as much weight in the second half. The first one knew when to call it and was infinitely more creepy. This one was very energetic though, and she really is a queen. I would have given her a nomination.
