So your point?

I don't want any George Lucas revisionism, or James Cameron smoothing making Freddy look like a jellyfish.
My point is my perception has always been that the DVD was too "bright" showing Freddys face too clear in that scene.

But perhaps that is just a "truth" created by us (me and friends) when the DVD was released and us being so used to the Dream Master VHS being overly dark/murky(?).

I take it by your tone, that the line was always suppose to be said with Freddys face clearly showing with no lips moving?

In the trailer he is a silhouette:

(I don't want any revisionism either. I have just always thought the DVD was "wrong" compared to the theatrical release(and VHS))

I always figured Englund's voice was supposed to be unprocessed there, like he's going into a Fred the Sleaze drug pusher persona for a second. You didn't mention theatrically, was it not like this originally? Or do you just mean it's always been that way and should stay that way?

The latter, it's always been left unprocessed in any version I've seen and it should stay that way IMO.

I don't think when it comes to audio mix, special fx, ... the Nightmare movies are reference material anyway, many already do a patch job on the score, dubbing, ADR, ... and having them shoot the special fx sequences on different sound stages at the same time to save on money, also means that the execution isn't always pristine.

I'm also expecting Warner to do a similar job on these like they did with part 1, serviceable but not earth shaking in terms of 4K transfer.

Not sure how it was written in the script, but truth be told I already noticed it when watching the DVD and blu-ray. I think on VHS I never caught it because the quality was poor. Eitherway, I'd gladly take that scene being too bright if they make the entire movie brighter as the overall black crush was very apparent for part 4 on the blu-ray.

I saw Dream Master at the theater 4 times. You could not see his face/lips during that scene. It was the same way on VHS. Imagine my surprise when you COULD see his face/lips during that scene. It was too bright, as was the entire movie.

They have darkened the scene on the Blu-ray, as well as every other scene in the movie. Now it's TOO dark. A happy medium would be welcomed.

This thread has been.....interesting.
Some claim the leak is "fake" because it lists Green Lantern coming in 4k
Meanwhile, Howard The Duck has been available on 4k for years now.

I expected a Freddy set to come, and just like FT13th, I STILL had to buy the first film Day One instead of waiting for the inevitable box set. I just hope this set has all the bells & whistles so many are wishing for, and that the PQ & AQ are perfection.

I wonder if they will likely include exclusive contents in the box set. Otherwise, I’m getting the individual releases since I already have the first film in 4K.

I missed the Howard The Duck discussion. Just re-read the entire thread.

I have to use VPN set to an European country. My ISP IP gets flagged as robot for some reason.

You should have just reread my post first I guess?

Post #9. MrMifunefan claims we're being trolled "hard" because there's a leak for GL coming in 4k. As if, quality is some form of indicator on what gets released on blu ray. I invoked Howard as an example that studios just count beans.

I'm personally not surprised at Green Lantern coming to 4k. Studios still want to make money off of their "turkeys". Spend enough time here and you'll hear stories from completionists, somebody will buy this. Moreover, the studio already knew, and many people only just found out, A Green Lantern (not THE GL) will be in the upcoming Superman film, plus they're riding off of Ryan Reynolds popularity with comic fans. There are newer, younger Deadpool fans who have never seen GL and the studio will happily take their money. It makes perfect sense for a 4k GL release from the STUDIO's point of view.

Meanwhile, as I said, we already have Howard The Duck on 4k. 4k is not gatekept for only 5-star masterpieces by the studios. I would have thought saying "meanwhile" conveyed that I was bringing up the subject of Howard, so sorry if you reread all 10 pages to find mention of Howard. I said "years ago", so you could have typed into the search bar and seen that HTD 4k came out in 2021.

Meanwhile, I wonder if anyone will recant their stances if the leaks all prove true.

No CED, no sale.

It's funny how many luddites on this site of all places refuse to get a 4k player.

For the sleeves, I feel like they're gonna go with the DVD covers to match the artwork they brought back for the first one's solo 4K earlier this year. Not ideal, but could be worse I suppose. Personally, I hope they give us the original poster artwork. Maybe they'll make OG covers a box set exclusive perk?
Actually, if they are smart they would use the original artwork for each film including the original film in the boxset. This way, some of us collectors including myself will be tempted to rebuy the first film in the boxset instead of just the sequels.

They should do something similar to their Superman Steelbook set, where each film is presented in its own case with classic artwork. Mama mia, papa pia!

That would actually be really awesome, so they definitely won't do it.

It's Warner Bros. Keep your expectations in check. I imagine if we do get original poster artwork, we'll have to import from the UK or Italy. The US will more than likely get recycled ugly ass DVD "art", again.

Glad I canceled that expensive UK release of the first film for financial reasons. Would much rather just get the films as a set.
