Wow I placed an order for this set on Amazon last Saturday since they were in my goldbox for $42.74 and I received an email earlier today stating that it was shipped out today. I actually received the package about two hours ago today and I don't even have Amazon prime anymore and chose free shipping. Weird huh?

Unfortunately I cannot watch them, or Wanted until after my semester is over next week.

I pre-ordered this, along with 5 other movies, at Amazon with free shipping. I got 3 on Tuesday (release day!), 1 yesterday, and 3 today. Not bad.

WHV, on the other hands, is still processing my Shawshank Redemption.

Bah! I am not a fan of the Skinny cases. I'm already annoyed with the Matrix set being that way, and I'm looking to find proper covers to print up and put in normal cases.

In addition to their skinniness looking cheap, I really hate the way the Blu-Ray logo looks. It's barely even there. Couldn't they at least have mad those the same as they are with the full sized cases?

I know it's just the packaging, and it's not the most important aspect of buying a movie. But between WB DNRing their movies to death, not having lossless audio on most of their releases, and not having a nice simple default menu that the disc goes to BEFORE watching the movie, this is just another annoyance.

It's almost as if the WB executives get together and say "Okay, they are getting tired of our releases, but what more can we do to REALLY annoy them?"

I already asked for this set for Christmas, so I'm sure I'll be getting it. I do find this packaging issue very annoying, though.

Apparently Canada isn't getting the set until just before Xmas. I bought a couple of these cheap BD samplers for 8 bucks each and I'll just switch the cases. I did that with the Hulk because of the green case and Iron Man's cover kinda sucked on the case itself so I cut down the cardboard cover and inserted into the plastic sleeve. Looks a LOT better that way. Since I don't really keep the sampler discs on the same shelf like the DTS demo etc., I can utilize their cases and leave them with the skinny ones. Anal? Yeah. So sue me!

Now this isn't a huge deal to most as they won't notice the difference, but I'm wondering why the aspect ratio was changed in the first place?
It was the original laserdiscs and DVDs that had a tampered-with aspect ratio. If the reviewer has no idea what the theatrical aspect ratio was then they shouldn't just assume that the last video incarnation was correct.

Yep.

It was one of the first big DVD releases, way back in 1997.

Back then, letterboxing was still somewhat controversial, and the 2:1 ratio was seen as a good compromise (despite the inclusion of the 1.33 version on the flipside).

The other 2 Austin Powers films were always 2.35 on DVD.

Looking to purchase this from www.playusa.com as it's on £27.99 and a present for the other half for Christmas. Will I get stung by Customs? Will the packaging be in French?

Am I best buying from Amazon US (£34), Movietyme (£39) or AxelMusic (£41)?
...as you can see there is a big saving when purchasing from Play!

HELP!

Thanks

Exactly, I don't like them, but they are better than the cardboard sleeve cases, like what Heroes came in

But The Matrix Collection on Blu-ray was. It looks like WB is moving in that direction with their packaging. Something tells me if they were to re-release the Dirty Harry box set, it would done in the same manner.

As for the Austin Powers set, I sampled all 3 movies last night. They look pretty solid, especially the first one. The tighter 2.35:1 framing took some getting used to, but I prefer it to the DVD. And the colors and sharpness are far superior to the DVD.

Goldmember looked better on Blu-ray, although it wasn't a huge leap in quality over the DVD since that had a pretty solid transfer. And unless the packaging and my PS3 are wrong, the Blu-ray version has only 5.1 audio while the DVD had a 6.1 track(although the 5.1 is lossless).

I don't have The Spy Who Shagged Me on DVD since I never liked that movie, so I can't A-B it with the Blu-ray. But the video and audio are on par with the first movie, so I can't complain.

The extras are all ported over from the DVDs, with the exception of the non-Austin Powers Mimi Rogers clips from the DVD for the first movie.

Can anyone confirm if the first film is uncut or not? I really want the scenes with the dead henchmen's friends and wives in the movie, and not as deleted scenes.

I pre-ordered it on Amazon and received it on release day and sold them the next day. I can't stand the skinny cases... I, too, think they look extremely cheap (like when you burn DVDs and throw 'em in a generic case)... so, no dice for me... I'll wait till they get release individually.
