That was a rather interesting kill.

I really like the season so far. That being said it doesn't "feel" like things are wrapping up considering this is the last season and there aren't that many episodes left. I'm thinking a cliffhanger finale is inevitable where we'll be left with more questions than answers.

...and then they'll answer those questions in a movie.

I'm with you on this one, 5 episodes into the final season and it doesn't feel like a final season to me. The Brain Surgeon subplot seems unnecessary now after seeing its resolution... I thought it would be a more tense season with Dexter in danger of being discovered or on the run... I hope now the Brain Surgeon plot is resolved things get moving...

About the previews,
[Show spoiler]while we have known for years they like to play with us suggesting things that actually do not happen in these previews, it does seem that Quinn is the one who is going to find out something's wrong with Dexter... I hope that does not happen, I would love for Batista to find something incriminating in those boxes he has at home with Laguerta's stuff...

I love the show but in all honesty they make the Miami PD out to be a bunch of fools. There's far too much out there suggesting Dexter is living double life for any reasonable investigator to ignore. Yet nobody in the department can seem to put 2 and 2 together. Then again I do think Matthews either knows or has a strong feeling what Dexter is, but just doesn't care. He's always been all about himself. He probably has a good idea Dexter is behind LaGuerta's death and is grateful for it.

Yeah for a guy like Matthews to be involved in everyone's business and be trying to pull different strings would make sense. Plus he was close to Harry, and it seems there are more people out there that know about Dexter's secret than Harry led him to believe.

Interesting final kill last night, but maybe a little over the top?

Dexter has to be a strong fella to be able to cut through the mattress like he did...

Showtime has signed a deal with Dexter showrunner Scott Buck, and the plan is for him to run a Dexter spinoff. No word yet on any details of the spinoff.

I don't like the idea of a spinoff at all, especially if it involves
[Show spoiler]what was hinted at in the preview for the next episode about teaching that kid the code
.

Maybe it's a prequel. Dexter: the early years.

I think a spinoff of Dexter is going to be really tough to develop.

Obviously Michael C. Hall is gone after the show wraps and probably Jennifer Carpenter as well.

If it stays in present time, is the cast of characters at Miami Metro interesting enough to be spun off? Probably not. I think they would have to go into a completely different direction.

That was pretty much done already with the Dexter Early Cuts.

I'm not gonna bother guessing what the spin-off could be about since no one knows how the show is going to end, and who will still be alive. I can only say that MCH and Jennifer Carpenter most likely won't have anything to do with it since they're ready to move on.

I agree - the early Dexter years have already been told. Not only that, we know there is almost no character arc for him in the early years - that didn't start til Season 1 where he meets Rita.

They could have an more ensemble cast of investigators who specialize in capturing serial killers.

Don't know - the spin-off idea is based on keeping money coming in after Dexter is done - hardly a great starting point to get a show off the ground.

I think a comedy with Masuka starring would work.

Make Your Own Kind of Music was the song that played during a key moment in last week's episode. Must be some twist in that upcoming episode related to Vogel's kidnapping.

I have my doubts that the Brain Surgeon plot is over with, they showed some evidence that he was the guy, but it's very weird for a serial killer to have 2 different MOs at the same time. I just have a feeling something is still unresolved with that plot.
