I have the Trilogy set of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises on preorder from Amazon. It is a five disc Blu-ray set that comes with a book as well. It was only $30! That is a NICE PRICE for everything you get!
Actually, Avengers was made to mirror how its comicbook counterpart is like, not cuz of some toys in mind, though of course they capitalize on that. Even DKR have toys included with the Blu-ray if you pre-order at WBshop.

they are comic book movies - no matter what, there is going to be merchandise. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight both had toys released with them(although Dark Knight's toys sucked pretty bad up here in Canada).

Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and pre-ordered. While the digibooks are really, very enticing, I need to match the SBs I already have for the series. If they end up dropping digibooks or the other two, my wallet is going to be screwed.

I'm not liking the price on that one. This better be $19.99 on release day or it's a no sale for me. Actually prefer the Digibook over this steelbook anyways.

Both were made to sell toys to children, lets not pretend it's high art.

They were actually fairly complex morality tales--not for children--dealing with issues like revenge, identity, law, politics and public personas, urban decay, chaos, terrorism and faith (or lack thereof) in humanity. Among other things.

You might be thinking of the cartoons.

oh goodness no, My name is fanboy Z for a reason.

Nolan's Batman films are straight faced, but still PRIMARILY for young boys.
The comics are way more dark and violent than anything in The Dark Knight Rises.
Lets face it if Tom Hardy was doing anything than high camp when he was playing Bane, then I don't have a word for it.

They are both made with 6-14 year old boys in mind.

All of this discussion about whether to buy the trilogy or the steelbook or the "Ultimate Collector's Edition" was put into hard perspective for me by a news release I stumbled upon the other day. While it may not come as news to many of you, I was surprised to hear that 4K or "Ultra HD" TV/Video is already on its way (3,840/2,160 lines of resolution vs. 1,920/1,080 for the 1080p discs we're currently throwing money at).

The first-gen Sony 4K TV's are currently selling for around $30,000 - so you have time to save up for all those New Ultimate Ultra HD! discs we'll all be drooling over ("Is it worth the upgrade from the "Ultimate Collector's Edition" I bought two years ago? Is Ultra Dolby any better than DTS-HD MA?"). Please, just shoot me now - or else send in the clowns to buy all of my "old" Blu-rays."

I defer to your expertise on the comic books, but I specifically said CARTOONS, in reference to saturday morning TV.

Well you should send IMDB a press release about that because it looks like they have about 50 times more over 18 males enjoying Dark Knight than anyone under 18.
