Umm, I did not mention anything about DNR or grain, just sharpening.

Chill.
Doesn't matter. You're being a bit of an etilist about how the film should look. You have zero idea. You're picking at straws.

You would not know this, but I have a BA in Film.

Now, I do not profess to be expert on all things celluloid, more digital, but I have a greater understanding of the medium than the average poster or YTer.

YMMV.

Oh, I am no god, just a mere mortal film nerd.
Well now you know.
You are forgiven my pup. Now go forth and nag, nor cast baseless aspersions, no more.

Anyhow, you made some baseless assertions about me and my comment.
One could say, grasping at straws.

So keep seething and coping at those pesky elites, such as GeoffD, who may know a bit more than you or favorite YT personality.

Probably because everyone else did it before they started making their own videos.

- Help figure out what went wrong, and if it's correctable or unavoidable.
- Bring attention to others that there are issues with the release, to help decide if they want to spend their money on it.
- Possibly help bring the issue ultimately to the attention of the studio or label, who may issue a replacement if it's possible.

If a release is great, there's only so many times everyone can say, "this release is great!". If a release has issues, there can be lots of technical reasons why it may have issues, from the way the film was made, to how it has been stored/transferred/scanned, to how it was authored, and many other technical areas that all come together and may play a part in whatever issue a release may have. This is a site where people discuss the technical side of these releases. It's not YouTube.

And especially when these are releases that many in here have bought over and over, some of them like in this case just a few months ago with the previous release, it makes sense that people want to know why they should re-buy it again.
Terminator 2 has come out in 2017. I don't believe that 6 year haven't been enough to talk about all issues with the UHD. It gets tiring.

The only things that one could talk is about possibilities of it being fixed, news, stuff like that. The current transfer itself is just a dead horse.

Nobody needs you to come on here to lecture them about how to be happier in life; if people enjoy engaging in discussions that you perceive to be "negative" then that's their prerogative, and it doesn't mean that they're unhappy in their personal life.

I'm not "picking" on you, but you keep posting a lot of shit. You talk about how everything and everyone is negative, how they should be happier, how you really need to take a break. If you want to take a break, then take a break. A discussion about a bad UHD is ultimately nothing in the grand scheme of things.
When considering that you only reply to comments where I criticize negativity, even though the vast majority of my comments haven't anything to do with such subject, I find it hard to believe that you don't have something against me. You only feel the need to reply my comments to criticize me or to disagree with me, never anything else. I can't believe that you truly disagree with all I post.

By the way, I clearly said that people are allowed to do whatever they want.

Please check my comment history. Look at my comments in the Thunderbean blu-rays thread. I have had plenty of very nice conversations in this forum. Please look at all the comments by me and everyone in the page below.

But that’s just me, you guys do whay you want, obviously.
That's just how human nature is (to focus on the negative), but magnified even more online.

Same reason why sports radio stations get 3x as many callers after a loss than a win. Same reason why supporters of Political Party "A" spend way more time bashing Party "B" than talking up their own ideas. People looooooove to complain/criticize.

And I am counting myself among those people too as much as I wish I could be better.

But to your point--Casablanca IS amazing! I sometimes have it playing in background w/o sound just as a beautiful "screensaver"

Yes, like comparing apples to oranges, LOL.

I won't believe how great it looks until I see it for myself.

These reviews are pretty pointless, just like those that praise how great a new smartphone screen is, or another gadget, that can't be fully seen on a recorded video.

The only "difference" I see is the picture at the top left looking more brighter.
But that doesn't say anything, to me.

I watched the youtube video on my 4k tv and noticed a huge difference between the two pictures.

Not only that, but he says (in slow text) to watch this in 4K.

He couldn't AT LEAST use full-screen screenshots?

I mean its so clearly more detailed on the 4K in that 'comparison' but I find all screenshot evidence a fraction of the truth of a 4K HDR image on a 4K HDR display played natively. Comparing to SDR overall is still silly. But details is one aspect that can be relatively well shown in direct side by side.

Not to complain, but to complain.... It is a little odd in that he makes a big deal about watching the review in 4k and comparing the new 4k disc to the old 2k and then compares them at 1920x resolution, with downscaling and reprocessing of the UHD. We don't need to see him talking and holding a disc but the full screen images one after the other, back and forth and sliding back and forth. Granted you can see more detail even at his 1920x images but it is hard to tell exactly how weird or not the UHD may look and whether the screen caps from the blu-ray were not smooth and processed in some way too. Who knows how the UHD was rescaled, some programs default to heavy sharpening on downscale (I mean that won't make new detail, but it can change the look quite a bit).

Nah, this guy’s never steered me wrong, love his comparison videos. I’m super pumped for this release now, it’s going to look glorious on an OLED!
