The guy at Collider was on the set when this scene happened and he saw both of them with her not covering them up so who knows what is up with this

So I just watched it again to see if I missed anything that would warrant this scene giving the film its R rating it received for the Director's Cut.

I didn't notice the very jarring edit during her turning to/from Marcus (put it on full screen this time). There's probably more to the scene (as the writer at Collider says he saw on set). Question is, is that in the blu-ray release, or is the video online the one from the blu-ray.

I really wish they would have addressed the specifics of the "Director's" Cut by now...

Joss Whedon makes a [largely hilarious] bid on 'Terminator' rights

Link

Quote:
It does not instill me with great confidence regarding the future of the "Terminator" franchise, knowing that any installments yet to come will be based on who the highest bidder is rather than who has the best idea or the most compelling story idea.

My opinion on the "Terminator" series hasn't endeared me to fandom to a large degree, but I don't care. My loyalty is to the two James Cameron films, and nothing else. Those films work together elegantly, and they tell a complete story. At the end of "Terminator 2," there wasn't anything I felt had to be explained or followed up. The story was done. The future had been reclaimed. The human experience of the "Terminator" films was the story of Sarah Connor trying to secure a real future for her son, and thanks to "Terminator 2," she did.

I don't hate "Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines" or "Terminator: Salvation," but I don't really think of them as essential, either. Same with "The Sarah Connor Chronicles." There's good work being done in them, but it all turns into a rehash, a wheel-spin, a pointless exercise in franchise extension.

And, yes, I've heard the notion that we needed more movies because we "needed" to see the future war. I disagree. I think that's what fanboys think they wanted, but just like The Clone Wars, seeing it is pure anti-climax. What was handled just right, due in no small part to budget in the first film, has instead become a narrative dead-end that Hollywood is determined to explore no matter what. Or at least, that seemed like the plan when The Halcyon Company was producing the films with McG onboard as the architect of the Future War. Sam Worthington was being groomed as the new lead of the franchise, hoping to usher in a new era in the series. On TV, "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" was an almost-complete reworking of continuity, and if nothing else, it gave us Summer Glau as a Terminator, which was enjoyable on a purely aesthetic level.

Now the man who originally brought us Summer Glau is hoping to bring us his own take on the iconic characters, and he's decided to put in his bid on the franchise in the most logical place: on Nikki Finke's website.

Here's a taste of what Whedon's thinking:

"I am Joss Whedon, the mastermind behind Titan A.E., Parenthood (not the movie) (or the new series) (or the one where 'hood' was capitalized 'cause it was a pun), and myriad other legendary tales. I have heard through the 'grapevine' that the Terminator franchise is for sale, and I am prepared to make a pre-emptive bid RIGHT NOW to wrap this dealio up. This is not a joke, this is not a scam, this is not available on TV. I will write a check TODAY for $10,000, and viola! Terminator off your hands.

No, you didn't miscount. That's four -- FOUR! -- zeroes after that one. That's to show you I mean business. And I mean show business. Nikki Finke says the Terminator concept is played. Well, here's what I have to say to Nikki Finke: you are a fine journalist and please don't ever notice me. The Terminator story is as formative and important in our culture -- and my pretend play -- as any I can think of. It's far from over. And before you Terminator-Owners (I have trouble remembering names) rush to cash that sweet cheque, let me give you a taste of what I could do with that franchise:

1) Terminator... of the Rings! Yeah, what if he time-travelled TOO far... back to when there was dragons and wizards? (I think it was the Dark Ages.) Hasta La Vista, Boramir! Cool, huh? "Now you gonna be Gandalf the Red!" RRRRIP! But then he totally helps, because he's a cyborg and he doesn't give a s#&% about the ring -- it has no power over him! And he can carry it AND Frodo AND Sam AND f@%& up some orcs while he's doing it. This stuff just comes to me. I mean it. (I will also offer $10,000 for the Lord of the Rings franchise)."

You really should read the rest of it, and although it seems like Joss is kidding, the rights are being auctioned off, and we will see someone new take over the property in the very near future.

Just remember, whoever ends up with it... no future but what you make.

And it's not going to be easy.

Hmm...

'Terminator' Future To Be Decided by Feb 1

Quote:
When last we left the tug of war over the future of The Terminator franchise, it was out for bid, and at least one potential buyer was Joss Whedon (prepared to ante all of $10,000). Today Halcyon Holding Group, which announced it was contemplating a sale of its rights to Terminator after filing for Chapter 11 protection last August as a result of a dispute with a lender, released the following statement:
“When Halcyon announced the bidding process for the Terminator franchise last month, we indicated that in addition to an outright sale of the property, we would also consider other strategic options, including a recapitalization ofthe company. Over the past few weeks Halcyon and its professionals have engaged in in-depth discussions and negotiations with numerous serious potential buyers, including several major movie studios. In addition, a number of attractive refinancing alternatives have also been presented. In order to maximize the value of a transaction for all of the company’s creditors and stakeholders, we are fully analyzing all these options. As a result, we will not be committing to a 'stalking horse' bid at this time. Nonetheless, given the significant positive interest in the Terminator franchise, we expect to be in a position to announce a successful sale or recapitalization no later than February 1, 2010.”

From io9:

Quote:
McG Announces Two More Terminator Movies, Reality May Have Other Plans

Last night, Gizmodo's Jason Chen listened to director McG's Blu-Ray live commentary for Terminator Salvation so that you didn't have to. You can read the whole thing here, but if you're in a rush, here're the, uh, highlights.

Apparently oblivious to the fact that the franchise is up for sale and no-one knows who future owners will be or what they'll want, McG announced that he'll make two more Terminator movies, the first of which will feature Sarah Connor, even though "he's not sure how he's going to pull that off." We'd be more worried about future Terminator rights holders agreeing to him making two sequels to a critically-savaged movie that flopped at the box office (in comparison to expectations, at least; it's still in the top 20 movies of the year) and failed to prevent the bankruptcy of the owners of the property if we were him, but maybe there's a reason we're not successful Hollywood producer/directors and he is.

He was also disappointed that Salvation wasn't the best movie in the series so far, but thinks that it was better than T3 (which he "didn't really pay attention to"; he also only watched one episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Feel free to start your fuming now), and "tried to introduce credibility" back to the franchise. And, maybe most importantly, he showed that he knows movie direction:

7:15: Here's a tip that will go down in history from one of the film greats. "There's two elements that go into filmmaking. There's sound, and there's the picture."

There's more in Jason's epic journey into one director's ego, including how McG feels about the Charlie's Angels movies these days, that Moon Bloodgood topless shot and the downbeat end to the franchise that was possible. Go read, if only because Jason suffered for us, and because he's right about Community.

I just watched it yesterday. It was cool. I would rank it 4th behind the first 3 though! Moon Bloodgood is a fox though. How did Eric Balfour let he get away? Anyway it was obviosuly much different then the prev 3 Terminators and maybe thats why I rank it 4th. I still enjoyed it but it ranks last of the series! Got Em!!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who felt it was the weakest in the franchise.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

T3 is eons better than Salvation. You dismiss the one that actually feels like a conclusion for the Cameron Franchise. Compared to one that feels like Terminator in name only with Transformers concepts stapled on.

T3 is the equivalent to Coppola's Godfather 3....just my opinion...to each his own!

Why? No its not as good as the first 2 but thats a high pedestal to ask for. It was still a good movie and it followed the same guidelines as the first 2! TS was just different and I may need to watch again. I did enjoy it but the first 3 are better! Got Em!!

I don't care for how weak a character Sarah Conner is in the first film.

Thankfully T2 goes a long way to make her less of a wishy washy character. Huge improvement.

Plus there's some moments of the film that are just weak. Like how the Terminator just blows every other Sarah Conner away with little real hesitation. But he slowly takes the time to aim at the Tech Nor club, and then finally gets shot. Hell... he could have walked over there and snapped her neck faster. It's a good film, don't get me wrong. But like most 1st chapters, it suffers on repeated viewings due to having to establish things.

I agree with your point....but the slow-mo tech noir scene plays up the tension and suspense a bit...I like that...it's got a cheesy 80's feel to it.

I repect it but I think otherwise. Its more realistic. I mean u want Sarah Connor to be this bad chick from the jump when she lives a normal life as a waitress. She has no idea what the situation is. Now obviously once T-2 drops and she is locked up after witnessing what she saw etc....of course she is gonna become distrusting and do whatever it takes to stay alive! It fits. U have to have a beginning feel me? As for the club scene I have to watch again but I just presume its a movie and sometimes thats how the suspense builds up and of course he aint gonna kill her then and there. I can listen to an argument all day about T-2 being better than 1 but not part 3! U are the first I know that puts 3 in front of 1! Got Em!!
