For what reason? I have a pre-order with them for the Fellini set... as I already sold all my CC films of his, I would not be happy if they cancelled it

There's typically a flash sale in October, correct? Thanks in advance!

Well it's already happened to me twice for items ordered when they were on back-order status, during a coupon-period. After a few months they cancelled it. I am not 100% sure that the versions listed shortly after were new editions, but I lost my order and had to re-order, but so far only done it for one item the Columbia Noir IV, which I think was pressed version, and now I have to settle for a MOD version.
Demy set is probably going to be cancelled soon (it's not even listed for purchase on the site).

I was not in awe of it, but it is quite a good film.

Just a guess, really, but I have a feeling they're gonna time it with the release of "Parasite".

I saw Silence in theaters but was very underwhelmed by it. The cinematography was majestic but the story was light on substance I thought. Maybe Scorsese intended it to be a meditation or tone poem piece or something but both that film and The Irishman I didn't enjoy as much as I thought I would prior to seeing those in theaters. Of course I've only seen both films once so I should revisit each film.

Oh, and also Shutter Island I saw once and it had a vibe from Cape Fear but I didn't like that one either. Scorsese's films in the last 14 years (since The Departed) have generally not been as good as his earlier output (and yes, that's a bold statement but that's my opinion).

Overall I most appreciate Scorsese's films from the 1980s and 1990s and believe those 2 decades was his peak era.

Unless they have it listed as "in stock" like THE SOFT SKIN a few years ago, listed as in stock during the sale a week or so before the street.

The book is better and gives you a deeper insight into the themes and meanings. I read the book first and was really impressed at how closely the film stuck to the book's narrative. However the ending was changed pretty significantly by adding one small detail. I didn't mind it, but some might.

As others have said the film isn't as deep or great as the book but it's an amazing piece of film-making. Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield are both incredible in it, as is Issei Ogata who plays Inoue.

After renting it I decided not to own it until a deluxe version comes out with some great extras.

Anyone who likes films dealing with deep, spiritual undertones and quiet, thoughtful atmospheres combined with dark and/or brutal story elements will probably enjoy it.

If you click where it says "Spine" on the drop-down menu you can choose "Year" as a sort option but that is the year of the film's release. Or you can click on New Releases. Other than that I don't think there is a way to see the whole collection by release date.

Just don't watch it while you're tired. It's not an easy film to watch: downbeat and lengthy. Having said that it is a very good film.

If the flash sale is before the release of Parasite, the Barnes and Noble 50% off sale will be about a week or two later. So I wouldn't worry about that.

Didn't mean to sound like I was hoping for that date, I just think they try to time the flash sales to be after the highest-profile title of the month.
