I seriously hate people who do this... seriously. People that buy up multiple copies of something only to resell the product at a higher price are d**chebags. It's only preventing other people from being able to enjoy something at a fair price. It's a dog-eat-dog world, for sure, but these people are no better than scummy ticket scalpers, I'm afraid.

I saw the irony in it when people bought Pierrot le fou more than once to re-sell them. Consumerism, and selling a Godard title no less.

Where is your BBS coming from... Criterion? Mine shipped today from Amazon, but I have a Prime membership so it's guaranteed to be here by Tuesday. I can only hope for a Monday arrival, though.

I had a nice plan to take Monday - Wednesday off from work next week, on top of my two holiday days for Thanksgiving, so that I could enjoy the set. However, the powers-that-be thought it'd be fun to deny me my vacation time. Working is no fun.

Yep, and it was gone before I saw it.

It'll show up again. It's all about patience...and timing.

I got it from from Criterion.com and it's funny I am getting next Tuesday's release before last Tuesday's releases. This is the fastest I ever got something from Criterion though. Usually it's the Monday before release day by UPS. Now it's the very next day they shipped it by USPS no less. I am shocked at how quick USPS worked. On top of that I got a $50 gift card to prob get Modern Times and either House or Videodrome. 2 titles I wouldn't of paid for.

I'm going to watch Modern Times pretty soon (have never seen it, and have only seen "The Kid" to be honest ) but your logic is flawed..... I never understood why people treated gift cards or store credit as anything other than money in your pocket......

Usually around the holidays I receive a few hundred dollars worth of Home-Depot gift cards (it's nice living in money pit ) but that doesn't mean I run out and buy tools I don't need..... it just means the next month or two I don't have to pay cash from my pocket for all the little things like light-switch covers, outlets, light bulbs, hardware to re-hang my hand-rail that my kid pulled down by constantly hanging on it (got that this morning ) etc....

I would never say "An angle-grinder would come in handy EVENTUALLY, heck, I think I'll buy one since I have a GC"

EDIT:

Why don't you save the credit until Criterion releases the new Goddard film with the talking dog..... or perhaps the officially licensed Goddard T-shirt (you know.... the all-white T-shirt with no image on it, because that would be way too conformist)

Default Damage

I think I've done enough damage during the B&N sale. I used their e-mail coupon as well as my recently acquired B&N member card.
That racked up to a crazy 70% off.
- Black Orpheus
- Thin Red Line
- Darjeeling Limited
- Complete Monterey Pop
- Charade
- Paths of Glory

COOL CG! You can let us know what you think. The rest of us commoners will have to wait until next week.

AMEN to that brother!

Though B & N claim a ship date of 11/23. I would think/hope that they would at least ship on the day before, as that is when their stores typically get them...that might even mean them shipping on Saturday/Sunday to get it there by Monday.

Either way...I've got Express shipping, so I hope to have it by Black Friday at the latest...as long as they are stocked for my preorder...we'll see...

How did you swing that? My Night of the Hunter, Modern Times, & Sherlock Jr. are to arrive this afternoon.

I do not recall such a time that I was over 20 films behind in watching. Yikes! Now my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and I have asked for nothing but Blu Rays as far as non-essentials and that will surely put me further behind. Not to mention Christmas in a month and 6 days...

Nothing more than basic economics, supply and demand. The Studio Canal version is available for $24.99 so I do not see anyone being prevented from enjoying this at a fair price. They might have to deal with a slightly inferior picture quality but still acceptable all the less. There was plenty of notice the movie was going out of print that any serious movie collector could have picked up the Criterion version at a modest price.

B&N always ships my pre-orders on release day, unlike Amazon prime. Sucks, but you cannot complain about the price.

I live less than 30 mins away from the warehouse Criterion ships movies from. I also paid $90 for it, but I wanted to so I can get my $50 card (I needed $80 to get it).

Thanks jcs...this is my first official time ordering from them AND having it shipped to my home. I've had them order things to the store many times, but the manager at my local store did me a solid and got me the BBS set for $69.54 before taxes (this was when the price was still much higher) and express shipping. I didn't want to complicate things for her.
