The "What's on your mind?" thread

I've been working on this movie conceptualization of mine during my spare time. It's a futuristic vampire story loosely based on the Bram Stoker mythos with some prophetic and Lovecraftian themes thrown in for good measure. It's basically a reimagining of the Bram Stoker Dracula story leading into the main story set in the future. I have casting, characters, production crew, story, etc. outlined for it and everything. I've even got my own promotional movie poster with a logo, tagline and the crew listed in movie poster font that I made in PAINT.net, and I truly think it's a kickass concept that I'd be more than happy to share, but I don't know if I should post it here or start a thread in the Personal Pages forum.

It's too bad I don't live in Cali and no director/writer/producer will ever see this because I really do think this would make an awesome movie in the hands of a competent writer/director duo.

I'll turn 46 in March - am I too old to have children?

I'm not sure if I even want kids. Never really thought about it, actually. I feel like I'm still young at heart and having kids will spiral me into old age faster than normal, especially at my age. I have a brother and he, too, does not have any children (that we know of) so now we're just worried about cutting off the bloodline by not having children. Having a kid must be tough enough without worrying about bringing a child into this world solely for the purpose of continuing the family name. Anyone else in a similar situation?

My brother and I never talked about so just in November I get a niece. He is in his early 40s and I am younger. A for me I don't know. It would seem weird but I understand you.

Have kids, that way you have someone to take care of you when you get old.

If I'm lucky I'll have a kid who'll care enough to visit me in the nursing home once a year

I've been witness to so much indifference on the part of children towards their parents that it breaks my heart. My own mom passed last year and I wasn't there to hold her hand while she was sick. I got to say goodbye at least but not a day goes by that I don't think "what if". What if I hadn't been employed and living 1,500 miles away. Too many kids just don't give a f*ck about the people who gave them life.

I think the fault is shitty parents. My father’s father had 5 kids, and 4 of them hated him because he abused them. They never visited when he was on his deathbed. Don’t abuse your kids, and they will be more likely to take care of you in your old age.

you probably should have had one. it doesn't matter what size a dog is they always need more room than any one else.

I was always curious if pet owners typically let their pets (cats or dogs) sleep on their beds with them or if people turn their noses up at the thought. My Shih Tzu went through a flea infestation spell and I wouldn't let her anywhere near my bedroom, let alone my bed until I got rid of the problem. Now she sleeps with me but she's not as enthusiastic about it.

my pets have always slept in the beds with me. granted they've never had any flea problems, so that helps. but i can understand you not wanting yours to sleep in your bed with a flea problem. that's just asking for trouble.

but the last few pets i've had were cats and for some reason, fleas have never been an issue with any of them. my current cat will sleep on my bed when i'm not using it. but once it's bedtime (for me) she usually goes somewhere else. but if she were to sleep in the bed with me, i wouldn't have a problem with it.

when i was younger, i had a large dog. he'd get in the bed with me and then kick me out, lol. i'd have to physically move him over so i could have enough room. but he was a sweet dog and was always sleeping in the bed with me; especially if it was cold.

That's incredibly depressing. I'm sorry all that happened to you and your mother. That's just something that should never happen with a good parent.

Dogs or cats, makes no difference. I've had them always and would never allow them to abandon me at night and leave me laying there, wondering what kind of mischief they are making for me to clean up in the morning.

Was going to get the 128GB iPod Touch but now I’m thinking I might go for the 256GB. I’ll either get the 10% discount at Apple’s military store or go with Target and the 10% off gift cards deal they’re having. Surprisingly, to me, Target only had one 32GB Touch in store and they don’t have any 128GBs in any color on their site.
