Pretty cool, announcing I've been blocked has become some weird type of virtue signaling for this forum, lol.

I think RUINED is a bot. No human is that mellow and thick-skinned. No matter how much he gets dumped on, he never gets angry or reciprocates hate. There are people like this at my job. Always cheery and smiling. Robots.

I get more angry when people post wrong information than insults.

Nice burn, but I'd argue in this thread especially my information has been more level-headed and accurate than the "majority" opinion, and I can easily back that up.

What about all of dark forces "wrong information"?
He said the carrier DC looked great, then later admitted it was flawed.
He said the bills apartment video was just a comedy shoot on a fake set, which bill himself refuted.
He says he's not an ametur at this, but then uses the wrong restoration terms in his descriptions.
Not to mention doing sleazy things like using sage Stallone and Roger Eberts deaths to promote his movie.

OOP Because Ebay Scalpers determine oop status.
"OOP" frequently is used wrong in this forum IMO. OOP means out of print, obviously. Also obviously, if a movie has a single limited 1000 unit run like many of the more obscure movies, that release is technically Out of Print the day its released since it was a one-time pressing with no planned repressing; it would not be "in print" again until there is a repressing or a non-limited edition released.

Availability, is probably the term you are looking for. And availability is determined by the label that releases the movie. How many copies are pressed, how they are distributed, etc.

Value in the collector's market is all about availability and scarcity. For instance, "The Pick-Up Artist" which was received poorly by both critics and moviegoers and sells for $3 on DVD on eBay, also sells for $100+ on Blu-ray on eBay (currently $189 on Amazon). The Blu-ray video quality on this particular disc isnt really much better than a DVD, either; but since it is scarce, it becomes an unattainable "collectable" that people now want and will pay more money for. Not paying for a better movie or even significantly better video quality, just paying for the ability to have the scarce Blu-ray Disc instead of the readily available DVD.

As mentioned previously, The House That Vanished is another example. It sells for $35-$40 regularly on eBay, but it is available for $25 on SAE store - in this case, it is not actually scarce but is *perceived* as scarce since few have heard of SAE and thus they do not know it is available outside of a 3rd party reseller. Hence, the price is rising as a result.

eBay scalpers may claim a title is "OOP" to get more $$$ - and they technically aren't wrong in the case of 1-pressing limited editions - but they do not determine OOP status. They do play a part in determining perceived value, though; for instance if every eBay seller sold The House That Vanished Blu for $3 it would be no more valuable than The Pick-up Artist DVD. But, if they start ratcheting up the price because of scarcity, then they in turn end up increasing the perceived value of the item and hence pricetag.

You might think this is unfair or wrong, but then you could easily say the whole Blu-ray market is unfair, as the collective revenue on Blu-ray discs exponentially exceeds the cost to license, author and manufacture them - you perceive the value of a Blu-ray disc to be much higher than it actually costs to make. The situation is even more lopsided in the studios favor with streaming, which is why studios are pushing people that direction instead of physical media.

And that cash in your wallet? Does a $100 bill cost any more to make than a $50 bill? Nope, but the perceived value of it is double by virtually everyone. Is the cost to print a $100 bill anywhere near the perceived value of a $100 bill? Nope, its not. Perceived value is not only what the Blu-ray collectors market is built on, but also what the entire economy is built on.

Meh. I had you blocked - twice. As long as your not writing novellas, or shilling for DF, most of the time your posts are bearable.

Yup, and The House that Vanished is $21.95 on screenarchives. But still sells for $35-$40 on eBay because most people never heard of screenarchives. Many people perceive its value is worth the higher price and don't know where else to find it cheaper, so they pay the higher price.
