Have you bought anything else nice for yourself besides blu-rays?

Oh yeah, got married, new TV/AMP, New King size bed, New car, did some reno's on the house.
I got a promotion (I am an accountant for a major bank) a while back which pushed my salary rather high (not bragging) so I have more $$$ than I am used too. Have saved over $10k in the last year too, plus shares help (again my industry knowledge).

I guess I could have easily saved even more cash but I am happy with where I am now, planning on having our first baby soon, so that will slow me down a bit.

Also, with those who have use the Disney WOW calibration disk, does it change the tv settings or guide too in changing them for optimal picture. I can see my tv can do better so ill order it just wondering how it works.

Congrats mate. That's good to hear, you can't just restrict yourself to buying blu-rays that's for sure. You need to enjoy other things as well.

Edit: What brand and model amp did you buy?

For anyone who has seen House of Wax (2004), and The Howling Reborn, are they any good? I bought them today in jb's 2 for $20 promotion, I haven't unsealed and am thinking about returning them.

^ Personally House of Wax = kind of meh. Definitely your run of the mill horror. Not much going for it in my opinion. Just me though.

You change the settings while the calibration tools are playing.

Yeah, the film's still got it flaws but as a Titanic fan I'm more interested in the actual ship and historical characters (regardless of whether accurate or not) than the romance the story's framed on. Cameron definitely pulled off the realism aspect with the sets. I've got heaps of books on the Titanic and the sets are great recreations.

Picture quality was very strong. The encode handled the difficulties of the dark gradations well and the only issues were some minor banding and occasional elevated black levels. Audio was also flawless. Unfortunately the Jack and Rose running down the hallway shots looks worse than ever but that's source and CGI related.

They are VERY nice though.
For $150 (all of them are in the 2 for $30 sale) its a nice set and I only had to double dip on about 30% of the titles.....
Isn't that $180

Received

Titanic.

Would have been nice if they embossed it a little, but ah well, still a very nice picture, one of the rare times a change in the cover art is a good thing.

Still waiting on my Avenger Steelbook from HMV, was sent mid September, should I be concerned?

You had me all excited there for a second. Seeing as there are no logos on the front of these (which I care about most) I will pick these up. There abstract I love them

Yeah they are very nice looking, I double dipped on a few but overall happy with them, they are equal to the comic art covers. Very unique and classy.

I was looking at them to but can't bring myself to do it. How come the UK got half of the Reel Heroes sleeves and we are getting all the new ones The UK ones are so much cleaner looking. Might have to mix and match if I am going to get that set.

Review of Snow White & The Huntsman up on the blog.

...yeah, I didn't like it. Kristin Stewart, what a terrible choice for the lead. Me personally? Would have gone with Emily Browning. Mmmmm.....

The Steelbook is from HMV UK, it is not available to order from the site at the moment as there is a problem with the playback of the disc. But when that is sorted out it will be back up. The Terminator would be likley to be the same as the UK (no mono soundtrack).

Amazon, how I hate your wily charms, and awesome deals that suck me in so.

Just took them up on the 3 for £17 deal.

The Frighteners
Body of Lies
The Town

Definitely films I should have had for ages, been sitting on them for a while.

With the films they have on offer, I doubt this is the only time I'll be doing this.
