I didn't like 2012, but this one really works for me. There's some moments most definitely, but I still really enjoy it

I suppose everyone is familiar with this movie and with the comic books by now. I got to see this one very late since I got it on my movie channel, they have movies close to a year after they came out.

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. This may no be the greatest story ever made with the most amazing cast of actors in history but it does what it does extremely well. The movie move's along goo, the story was interesting and did not drag much, the actors were good in their roles and enough action to keep one happy without going over dose on it Some of the stuff is a bit over the top but that is to be expected for this type of movie In fact I found this to be even better then The Expandables which I also enjoyed but found The Losers did a better job on certain aspects of the movie.

I would recommend this movie to anyone but of course I would add that it's better you enjoy the type, action with comedy and some over the top stuff. If this is something you don't really like then better not waste your time with it.
This movie didn't work for me AT ALL. I gave it a 1/5. Was disappointed.

Same for me I can stomach The Day After Tomorrow a little easier then 2012. I think the reason is Dennis Quaid. I don't have a problem with John Cussack but I just have a hard time seeing him as a big time super duper action heroe

I enjoyed The Losers a lot, sure it's pure cheese but lot's a fun

Couldn't agree more. That was one of my favorite movies last year, because it was just fun. Was it brilliant? No. But the actors were great, there are some really fun characters (I love Chris Evans in it, he's hilarious! ), and I really liked the action and humor. It also kept pretty close to the comic which I really liked. They did the whole first half of the series, so I'm actually kinda sad it didn't do better just so they could do the second movie to finish the story.

Agreed about Quaid/Cussack...Quaid is much better imo.

Also...two things I noticed for the first time today about the movie.

1. When Quaid is talking about all the fossil fuels we burn...they put the delegates from Saudi Arabia on the screen

2. Later on, two character say effectively the same thing back to back. It's something like, "Our grid models are useless" followed a second later by "Our grid models won't help us"

I had hoped to have fun with The Losers, but no such luck
The A-Team was a much bigger success with me.

Yep. Just like 10,000 BC. All factual. Plus some archival footage.

Yet to seen this one but heard it's not too bad. I am looking forward to see it. I enjoyed the TV series a lot and well I am going to see this movie keeping in mind where it's coming from, the source material is not exactly done by William Shakespeare

True. Like in 1968 we had the very informative Planet of the Apes. I miss those because they were so educational.

Sure we do, I know you've seen Star Wars, the stories about a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Those are based on true stories, too.

Next greatest historical documentary: “Diamonds Are Forever.”

After that brief stint with George Lazenby, they brought Sean Connery back one more time so Bond could kick Blofeld’s butt for the last time! In this film, there is certainly some butt-kicking; a few good (if not somewhat cheesy) fights, a couple of fun car chases, and lots of major ‘splosions! But in keeping up with the lighthearted adventurous spirit, the film also has a lot of amusingly campy comedy. I think it’s probably the campiest film Connery made as Bond, and is a bit of a foreshadow for the Roger Moore era.

The story for this never seemed exceptional to me. Especially since there is no real exposition or line of reasoning that’s given to the audience; we simply follow Bond as he does one crazy thing after another, and goes through oodles of death-traps, only to figure out after the fact that he really is on the trail of a diabolical diamond-smuggling ring. Which then turns into a diabolical plot to replace a high-class businessman with a body-double. Which then turns into a diabolical plot to use a diamond-studded satellite weapon to hold the world hostage. Makes sense, right? Characters aren’t really deep either, but they are still rather fun.

The film shows solid and steady photography; there are probably too many long-distance shots to really do the film much justice, as it does feel a little distant from all the action. Acting is great; Connery is still the man, Jill St John is quite lovely, Charles Gray is pretty cool as the villain (and is probably my favorite version of Blofeld), and Jimmy Dean (not James Dean) is awesome as Willard Whyte. The two dudes playing the gay hitmen (yes, you read that right, gay hitmen! ) are awesome. And of course, Bambi and Thumper get props. Production value is a bit dated, and I find the special effects pretty horrid at times, but the settings and locations are fabulous, most sets, props, and costumes are adequate, and there is one cool car in the mix. Music is quite lovely.

3.5/5 (entertainment: 4/5, story: 3/5, film: 3.5/5)

Recommendation: As a rental.

This movie as the greatest exchange in the history of cinema between two characters

"Hi! I,m Plenty"

Bond : "But of course you are"

By the way since we are high on historical documentaries comments in the thread right now the actress playing Plenty O'Tool was the sister of Nathalie Wood, Lana Wood
