Any opinions on Cronos, the movie itself? Haven't seen it yet.

My opinion... I like it. I'm a del Toro fan, though.

I've never seen Cronos, but I've seen all of his other films, so I'm definitely picking up Cronos the first day.

Didn't really care much for it although the premise is interesting. I thought it was a 7/10 but as a first film, it is an interesting look. Will get it for the commentary. Man, if they release the Devil's Backbone on CC, I'm all over it like sh!t on velcro.

I have only ever seen it in the regular DVD case, I'm guessing this must have been how it was originally released then had a case change. Much like how short cuts does not come with the book anymore.

Does anyone know the story on this? And does anyone have this plastic sleeve version also?

FYI: I just went on the library link for B&N and it says that it will be taken down on 11/30, so get the last of your online orders in. Looks like it was abused a little too much...

Just watched The Wages of Fear. I'm really not sure what I think. The use of language is pretty interesting. If nothing else, a pretty good action thriller.
[Show spoiler]The anti-Hollywood ending is pretty annoying and wasn't surprising. I guess it kind of makes sense with how reckless the character got, but swerving all over the road and crashing over a cliff.

From the sounds of things the next sale, if there is one, is going to suck in comparison. No 10% off via the library link and it sounds like they will be rewording the coupons to one time use only.

Oh I love Wages of Fear. Even if it was shot ages ago, it still feels contemporary and it is a very well crafted thriller. I know what you mean by that pretty random ending but I suppose it just emphasizes that the protagonist didn't really learn anything from the experience. Well, that's my interpretation anyway. :P

Night of the Hunter is completely sold out in my area. Apparently, there aren't even copies in the B&N warehouse. Should I still order online, or will it just be canceled?

I broke down and ordered 3 Silent Classics online a couple of days ago.
For the 3 people who care, here is my final haul for this sale:

on blu:
8 1/2
The 400 Blows
Breathless
Chungking Express
Everlasting Moments
Kagemusha
Modern Times
Mystery Train
The Night of the Hunter
Paths of Glory
Red Desert
Repulsion
Seven Samurai
The Thin Red Line
Wings of Desire

on dvd:
3 Silent Classics by Josef Von Sternberg
The First Films of Akira Kurosawa
Ingmar Bergman Trilogy

I've seen a few of these already but we've moved into my mother in law's house for about 5-6 weeks until we find another house to buy (we sold our old house and moved out last week), so there will be limited viewing opportunities. Fortunately she's got a blu-ray player courtesy of me last year

Barnes ships from different warehouses, so it wouldn't hurt at all to order it. Then again, the sale is done, ain't it? So wouldn't Amazon be the better choice?

Apparently, the sale is still going on the website. I went ahead and ordered Night of the Hunter and Gone with the Wind for 40 shipped. I really hope it goes through. A store clerk told me all the warehouses on the computer were sold out.

I expressed a desire to have it and the B&N person said I can order it for you, and I said, really? It's OOP, and she said no problem, and then I ordered and purchased when it came in.
