Since nobody uses fusion rifles in crucible I've been catching so many people off guard with Plan C. Kill them before they get into shotgun kill range.

Weapon swap charge boost and accelerated coils can beat shotgun chargers.

Level cap raised to 40

Cryptarch rewards from engrams are now more in line with the type of Engram you got

The second half of the Taken King apparently starts once you reach the Endgame (Questlines throughout the Destiny Universe!)

Your Ghost can now scan objects to offer more insight into the world's lore (IE, scan a Cabal soldier, gives you info on their Military Regiment)

You can now turn in Bounties without returning to the Bounty Board!

Intelligence, Discipline, and Strength now have numerical "tiers" that decide their influence on your character

A new progress system where you sacrifice an existing piece of gear that belongs to the same slot (? Kind of confused about this and this is literally how it's read)

The Tower and its NPCs have been retooled to offer quests/story/insight into the world as you level up your character from 1-40 (!!!! Cryptarch, Gunsmith, etc questlines!!!!)

Entire base game/expansions retooled for narrative and access purposes to make much more sense (Example: after meeting the Queen for the first time, the Reef is open to you)

Subclasses, old and new, have their own questlines (?)

GUNSMITH NOW HAS A REP AND THE HIGHER YOUR REP, THE MORE "PROTOTYPE WEAPONS" HE OFFERS FOR YOU TO "TEST IN THE FIELD" FOR REP. Reaching a certain Rep with Banshee allows you access to "Armsday", a weekly purchase that allows you to ORDER LEGENDARY GUNS with GLIMMER.

Crucible and Vanguard Marks are gone! ALL HAIL THE UNIVERSAL "LEGENDARY MARKS" FOR LEGENDARY VENDOR PURCHASES!

Class specific materials needed for upgrading are gone! Hadronic Essences, Armor Plating, etc. have been replaced by "Armor Materials", making it easier to utilize materials on one character towards another to progress them.

NO LONGER FORCED TO WEAR A CLASS ITEM WHEN LEVELLING UP NEW MONARCHY, DEAD ORBIT, OR FWC (you pledge to each faction!)
You can turn in materials to these above factions for a Rep Gain (like the Speaker with Glimmer)

The Taken Foes

Taken Captains: Solar shields, throw out slow moving balls of darkness that blind Guardians.

Taken Knights: AoE Scorch attack that dissuades close combat.

Taken Centurions: Possess deadly tracking shots that can aggressively seek around corners.

Taken Wizards: Can summon “shadow thralls” for a zerg-like rush. Eliminate them fast or risk being overwhelmed.

Taken Psions: Have the ability to multiply if they are not quickly dispatched.

Taken Vandals: Deploy a Defender Titan-like Shield, that restores their health and is permeable to their fire alone.

Taken Phalanxes: Have an impulse blast that applies a physics impetus, much like their notorious shields.

I guess if you're going to replace a voice actor in a game, it's difficult to do better than North.

Wait. I'm a little confused. All these changes, how do they apply to existing Guardians? Does Taken King reset my entire character? Or would the majority of these changes only apply if I started a new Guardian?

My guess is we will start at whatever level you are at, then be increased up to level 40 by doing the new stuff. We won't no more until probably the end of August.

Gamescom is happening this week. If there is news or a possibility for new announcements, it'll happen there.

So far, from what i read, they really are making an effort....on paper. I'm of the "i'll believe it when i see it" mentality, because i've been burned entirely too often in the past. That said, Bungie has already turned this game into something much more enjoyable than it was back at release, so i suppose we'll see what happens.

As for Dinklage's terrible voice acting being replaced...i can only say it's about damn time. I had a hard time believing they actually put his work into the game, as opposed to some digitally altered voice work from one of the cleaning crew members at Bungie's headquarters, for that would have been better than this crap we've had to listen to for the past year. Sure, scripts can be terrible...but he simply dropped the ball on this. He could have done much better. Nolan is a great choice for Ghost, so i'm definitely looking forward to that.

I just hope they won't take away our exotics...

What’s more, today at Gamescom it was revealed that every edition of Destiny: The Taken King will include one character boost, which allows players to instantly level up any existing or newly created guardian to the minimum level required to play The Taken King.

Exotics will stay with us for a long time. Legendaries will pretty much become irrelevant in end-game TTK content. I just hope the new weapons make me want to get rid of my current weapons. That way I can free up some vault space.

I can see a lot of people deleting current legendarys to make vault room for the new weapons and then they announce for the first post tTK expansion that they will raise their values back up. Thus starting the grind again. Because as far as I can see they're making the first two raids and PoE's completely worthless aside from a chance at an exotic.
