The bumbling rebels might seem like a pointless detour taken in isolation but willing to bet the payoff is on the way (no doubt they will play a part in the Gorma campaign as she said it would involve using bad Rebels) and once the season is over there will be plenty of “oh now I get it” moments from those that right now just feel “well that was a waste of an hour”

Showing cells of nascent rebels disorganized and dangerously destructive to their own interests was a solid dramatic point to make.
My beef with that sequence (and it's dramatic effectiveness) was that the pacing was off and much could have been excused and the point still hammered home. Ultimately it was obvious the writer needed a stall tactic to keep Andor away from his compatriots for the other events to unfold like they did. Also some of the performances/scripting of that goofball bunchwere a little too tonaly dissonant to the rest of the show for me. To be fair, the first ep and half of the second I was watching via spectrum. Between the commercials and buffering every four minutes, it was taking me two hours to watch 50 minutes of content (no lie). This all might play better for me if/when I can watch it via physical media. Last edited by Mose Harper; 04-27-2025 at 10:02 PM. |

One of my favorite series by far. I'm glad it's finally back. Watched S2 Ep1 last night and loved it. Too funny watching Cassian
[Show spoiler] Nice seeing Bix again. Luthen too.

I guess im too dumb for this...
Sure it looked great but i found it didn't go anywhere? And almost everyone everywhere is just RAVING about these 3 episodes. and i'm like 'wut?' The wedding stuff was the worst because i literally could not piece anything going onunder the surface. everyone was speaking in riddles and subtext. I guess i truly am too dumb for this lol. only way i got all this is when i watched a Youtube 'explained' video I don't need action to keep my engagement but i like it when the story moves along |

Watching the first three episodes again I like they even more, the Mon stuff especially I thin Gilroy does an excellent job of creating that kind of upper class caustic environment of manners. I would say as well Mon's daughter not being killed/captured by the Empire but straight but being lost to her is more effective drama. Your seeing Mon's remaining attachment to that kind of comfortable establishment burnt away. |

I believe there are many reasons to enjoy Andor.
The storylines, set designs, special effects and characters are all well done. However, the real draw for me to watch this series is the deliciously evil character Dedra Meero. She is the ultimate Star Wars Femme Fatale. Whomever created her character should be considered a genius. I very much enjoy watching her movements, facial expressions, and monstrous personality. And now in season 2 we get a peek at her sexy side with that silhouette of her in the latest episode. I seem to be a bit bewitched by Dedra and dare I say … “something moved”. Sorry, I should not have said that … not sorry! |

I'll watch the new episode this week hoping it picks up after the drab 1-3 episodes. Then again I watched the Acolyte all the way through hoping the same..lol
Perhaps Rogue One should have been left alone. Yeah I know, it was great. It had villainy, Vadar, etc and left us wanting more...but the more I see of Cassian, the less I like him. He was a great character in the movie, but this guy isn't what I expected..you know like the story of Vadar in the prequels..disappointing. |

I know the first season took its time and its refreshing to have Star Wars not just be pew pew laser swords and space battles. The politics and world building is cool. Its just meandering along a bit. Quote:
![]() Cassian's character to me in Rogue One was actually fairly interesting. He was NOT a hero. He did bad things. But,, he came around at the end which might have veen been selfish to make himself feel better. Either way, he does have an arc of sorts in Rogue One. Andor has a bunch of other characters that do add some interest. My issue with Mothma is how her portrayal in this show isnt even barely remotely close to how she is in ROTJ. I know a lot of time passed and whatever but still. Its amazing they are the same character. ![]() |

I think the thing with Dedra, and Syril, is that they're not pantomime villains, bad guys for the sake of being bad guys. Dedra, has been institutionally indoctrinated, Syril has a warped set of ideals and principles due to his overbearing and overcritical matriarchal relationship with his mother and his desperate personal ambition. Both are clearly intelligent, and you get the sense that they won't be undone by their plot armour dictating that they be stupid and/or incompetent enough to enable the Rebels to win. You very much get the sense that any kind of victory against this Empire will be earned, and it puts a lot more value onto Rogue One and the following films.

I enjoy what they do with Syril and Dedra too. I've always liked the juxtaposition of almost comical levels of evil with an almost comically boring or pathetic personal life. Goes to show that the biggest bullies are often those who feel the smallest in their personal lives, but also that anyone, regardless of how mundane their life is, can become a villain. Just like anyone, regardless of background, can become a hero. It's moreso about what you do with what you're given and how you channel those negative emotions.
