From the Digital Bits (here):

Quote:
Paramount has just announced the launch of a new label designed to highlight marquee catalog titles on Blu-ray beginning on 4/21. Paramount Presents will debut with Adrian Lyne’s Fatal Attraction, the 1958 Elvis Presley drama King Creole, and Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief (which celebrates its 65th anniversary this year). Each title will be remastered and will include new bonus content focused on the film and the filmmakers, hosted by historian Leonard Maltin. Each will also include foldout movie poster artwork. You can see what they look like at left and also below.

I do but just once a week to see new and upcoming releases. Now there are so many titles being released it requires a fair amount of time to sift thru and see what I want to order.

On March 31, I will order at least 6 SW titles on UHD BD.

Meh, I am more interested in importing the 3D version of The Rise Of Skywalker due out on April 20th in the U.K.

I will eventually upgrade the other Star Wars stuff to 4K with the original trilogy first followed by Rogue One. I don't much like the prequels, so they will be the last of all to be upgraded if I ever even bother. The new trilogy doesn't excite me much, either, but I might upgrade them during a slow month for releases.

With Disney doing the 4K releases, I will wait for reviews before buying any of them.

Report: U.S. Dominates Global SVOD Revenue

While SVOD services around the world continue to add subscribers, revenue continues to be largely driven by the United States — birthplace of the distribution channel created in 2007 by Netflix and Roku.

According to new data from Strategy Analytics, consumer spending in 2019 on SVOD services globally was $53.34 billion, with the U.S. generating 43% ($22.93 billion) of the revenue, followed by China (17%, $9 billion), Germany and the United Kingdom at 4% each ($2.13 billion). Overall, the top 10 countries represented 81% of consumer spending on SVOD services.

The report suggests that by 2025, SVOD consumer spend worldwide will grow to $102.86 billion, with the U.S. accounting for 44%, followed by China (15%), and Germany (5%).

Strategy Analytics suggest reasons for U.S. domination in SVOD revolve the fact that U.S. TV households are more likely to subscribe to SVOD than those in other countries. In 2019, 74% of domestic TV households subscribed to one or more SVOD service. In comparison, the global average was 32%.

I couldn’t sit through Skywalker again on ANY format. Even holographic, 360% 3D 8K.

That is quite a higher number than reported by The Digital Entertainment Group; they showed subscription streaming revenue for 2019 to be just $15.898 billion. I wonder if Media Play News lumped in other types of digital revenue, such as video on demand and EST, to get that higher figure? There's a big difference between the amounts being reported.

I wouldn't know; I haven't seen it yet. That's a testimony right there as to how much I care about this franchise.

For me the major reason to re-purchase the original six SW is for the Dolby Atmos soundtrack. We do not care for any of the later SW but have not viewed Rise of Skywalker yet.

You guys and your Stats, you can skew that information anyway you want. Also by the time it comes out it's Ancient History!

Stats are facts; that's why you dislike them so much.

How are 2019's sales statistics "ancient history?" The Digital Entertainment Group Report for 2019 was dated January 9, 2020. The Media Play News article was dated today, March 11, 2020, just 71 days into the new year.

I am never disappointed, and I am ever entertained, by just how dumb you can be.

The first two movies in the new trilogy have already taught me to have low expectations. But seeing as I am a retired railroad conductor, I am kind of drawn to train wrecks.

I retired young (44) because I'm one smart cookie and don't you forget it.
