I sent you the cover bip. I don't know about placing it in the Code Red thread, hard to tell if it's something that would send Bill off on a semi-coherent rant and thereby causing him to delay shipping all those orders people in the thread are waiting for. I'd rather not have those delays on my conscious, best to just keep it here.

New cover for one of my Westerns, an all time classic - Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid.

To fit 14mm criterion case.

So, following the devastating news today I had to pay my respects in some form, so I decided to do this.

No watermarks or anything on this one. Star Wars has always been a huge part of my childhood and seeing a part of a culture that's forged your life die is a painful thing. I usually don't do these kinds of designs, but the original three films were always very dear to me as I grew up.

Star Wars was one of the franchises that made me pursue a career in filmmaking, and its characters were a huge part of that. Hamill, Ford, and Fisher were a trio of cultural icons of a generation in my opinion, and as that trinity is broken I hope the family and their friends find peace.

It's a fast design, but I figured less was more, and all the back needed in my opinion was what you see here. Included in the rar are files for the slipcover and the case insert itself:

I really dig the white, but I think turning the entire packaging into what is essentially a tombstone is pretty... on the nose.

Oh and can anyone suggest what paper to buy for custom Criterions?

I'll have to figure out how to print double sided front and back for the real custom criterion experience.

Double Sided Glossy Brochure Paper by HP. It's almost indistinguishable from retail paper. As far as printing on both sides, I just print one side, let it dry for a few minutes and then flip the sheet and print to the other side.

Question for everyone else; do any of you have experience using 3rd party inks? I'm needing to replace all 5 of my cartridges again on my Canon 7720MG printer and have been considering going the 3rd party route to save money. I don't want to go this direction if it will result in a dramatic loss of picture quality however. Any feedback is appreciated.

Does it line up properly when you flip it over?

I also am curious about the ink. I didn't realize how cheap 3rd party ink was because I've always just bought printer brand in store.

Yeah it lines up every time because I use a free program "Undercover10" to print my covers. Only thing you have to be careful about is ensuring that you flip the paper the correct way so that you don't end up printing upside down.

I'm not familiar with Canon printers at all, but I've tried 3rd party inks in both my Epson Artisan 1430 and my Epson Workforce 1100 at the office. I've not had much luck with them. Main problem being, the printer doesn't recognize the cartridge. I can't attest to the quality because I've never gotten the cartridges to work.

I've been told if you turn off any updating on your printer, the cartridges will work, but I haven't had much luck there either. You still might want to try it, I ordered my cartridges through Amazon, so I just returned them when they didn't work.

In my experience glossy paper doesn't work as well as standard paper through a Lazer printer. On the gloss the images seem to get oversaturated and Lazer ink has it's own gloss when you print it on standard paper anyway.

Laser Printers are fine for office use but really aren't designed to be used for photo printing. They also cannot print directly to CD/DVD/BD which pretty much makes them worthless to me. Add on the extra cost, and potential for toxic fumes and I'd argue that having a Laser Printer to print covers with is not recommended.

I'm looking for someone to print custom covers for me. I would of course cover any printing and shipping costs. Just PM me and I will provide a list of cover art I'm looking for. Thanks in advance.
