I agree.

I'm really excited that they're doing kind of an
[Show spoiler]evil Avengers ramp up in the Amazing Spiderman sequels building up to the Sinister Six.
I think that kind of character persistence (of villains) is something that is a huge hallmark of all comics that I've only seen hinted at here and there in CBM's.

Unfortunbately, the films weren't set in the 1960s. So that portrayal was completely out of line with the world of the 2000s. Maguire didn't come off smart and nerdy, just dopey and unbelievable.

Any news on this possibly getting some kind of "ultimate" re-issue to go along with the upcoming second film?

While De Lauzirika's documentary was quite good, I wouldn't mind having an extended cut with some of the deleted scenes reinstated into the movie.

And the trailers too, of course, sadly missing here, but also offering quite a few alternate and deleted shots, including a much fuller and satisfying version of Peter's first trail run as Spider-Man running and jumping on the rooftops, with the P.O.V. camera spinning 360º, that was condensed for the theatrical cut into just a couple of shots.

I would love to see a Director's Cut of this film as well. There was a few of the deleted scenes that would have been great if they would have left them in but I can understand why they were removed. All the same, I hope that we receive a Extended Cut of The Amazing Spider-Man if happens I will definitely pick it up!

For $4.99 I had to pull the trigger.

I absolutely LOVED the Raimi films which made me extremely skeptical of this in 2012, plus this movie is flawed--but not a disaster--so I wasn't blown away. I've seen this used for about $7 from time to time but didn't even want to spend that!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to revisiting this movie before ASM2 comes out

I remember seeing this in the theaters and feeling kind of "meh" about it. However, for $4.99 I think it would be stupid to not pick this up and revisit it. Sometimes I go to a theater and have a bad experience (be it rude movie goers, being sick so already in a bad mood, etc.) and it will actually change my enjoyment of the film. The second film is actually looking pretty good by the trailers, so I am excited to watch this again before checking that out. Did anybody else have that same feeling with this movie? Maybe you didn't like it in the theaters as much as you did when you watched it at home? I know that has happened to me with a few movies.

Yeah, that's gotta be why they are selling it for so cheap. Fox did the same thing a week ago with Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The sequels to Apes and Spider-Man come out this summer. This is a good chance to get those last cheap hold outs (us!) to buy a movie we were originally "meh" about.
