I'll probably never get rid of those dvds because of the great extras/packaging.
Good call on EFNY, it's a lovely little package.

Agree. They used to be great. Now they are pretty lame.
I managed to get an order in for this late last night at the $19.99 price.
They better ship it soon and I better get it early next week.

I was gutted when the barebones release rolled out...well definitely happy with the transfer, but sad to see everything else lost.
I guess you can't win 'em all.

As for the Hobbit EE trilogy, it would've been nice to see them retain the digipak style packaging...but again, you can't win 'em all.

I just checked my Amazon confirmation emails for when I pre-ordered star trek into darkness. It shows it having shipped the 11th and arriving September 14th. This disc was released on the 10th mind you.

I will likely be canceling my Amazon order this weekend and picking it up at the store Tuesday. Can't possibly imagine Amazon getting it to me on or before launch day. Any thoughts on shipping vs. box store?

Default Walmart edition

Does anyone know what's included in the Walmart version of the extend edition?

Still no word yet, probably won't know until Walmart's new weekly add is updated sometime this weekend. Its all speculation as to what it could be at this point. Maybe it will be the films score, a Gollum plush or figurine of some kind, special packaging or a bonus disc about Desolation Of Smaug, I would hope it would be something worth the $10.00 price difference compared to getting the regular version.

The box set is too far away for me and, like the LOTR blu ray box set, there's no guarantee any new special features will be added.

I really thought the deleted scenes would be included on the LOTR blu ray, as that's all we really have left to see and I've been waiting 10+ years to see some of the scenes talked about on the commentary tracks/appendices. The blooper reel has been available on youtube for ages.

Just one more day of work to get through, then I have 5 days off in a row and Tuesday is my birthday! It's too bad the EE doesn't come out tomorrow or something and I could spend those 5 days watching every special feature.

Boy do I feel bad for the guy whose relatives are coming to visit for a week on Tuesday...

I really wish we knew the prices of the 2D and 3D editions at Target and Walmart. I am starting to want te 3D edition but $40 at Amazon is crazy. I'm assuming the 2D I preordered will ship on Sunday from Amazon. Hopefully we can find out tomorrow or Amazon drops the price.

My preorder price was already adjusted to about 21 after a stupid new tax they estimated. I bet Ill cancel if I find any other good definitive pricing.

Not sure how you would still beat that Amazon price. Even if you were to buy it for $19.96 elsewhere you'd still have to pay additional sales tax...

I was referring to the 3D edition. It's so high on Amazon and no one knows what it will be elsewhere. Best Buy is too far from me.

Could always import the UK 3D set, identical contents and it's currently around $27

Calm down. I was just saying DVD packaging have been better usually than blurays. I wasn't complaining. Jeez.

Grumpy you say? Heh.
