Can't predict how things will be at that time for a theater viewing, but I will be subscribing to HBO Max in March.

Tossing my May watchlist into March. Basically 4K viewings of all of the major Hollywood giant monster movies (G98, Cloverfield, Pacific Rims, Power Rangers, Rampage and of course the MonsterVerse). Shame the G14 4K probably won't be out by then or we would have pre-orders by now.

The hype train is rolling again.

I gave up trailers cold turkey after the year 2012, and have enjoyed movies SO much more since then. Everyone should try an experiment to not watch ANY trailers for movies, TV shows or whatever for the rest of 2021, and see how much more you enjoy said movies when you go into them as blind as possible.

Some of the best movie going experiences I've had are because I went in completely blind. Upgrade and Freaks are two recent movies that come to mind.

Here I was thinking Legendary was pushing for a delayed release until theatres were safe. But no...instead it's moved up and there no hype with trailers or photos. So bizarre.

I mean I understand promoting a movie and letting the public know it's coming out, but does this movie really need alot of hype? It's Godzilla Vs Kong for God sake. All the hype you need is in the title itself.

Is that though? Usually, there is stiff competition so Godzilla VS Kong may sound awsum, but so do a lot of other tentpoles. No hype means you may lose the race.
That may be different in these pandemic times since everything else has been delayed, although one could argue it's all the more reason to hype it up, let People know something's comin' out. But I agree it's hard to think of a more blockbusteriffic title than that.

Big Ass movie coming to your Living Room! With a Subscription to HBOMax with No extra Charge to just watch it. That's a steal for most people. Subscribe for a month, you at least have content to watch for the month.
Hell on Streaming, there's no reason for consumers to struggle picking a movie out to see. It's right there!

This only needs a thirty second trailer. Kong walking toward the beach, Godzilla rising out of the ocean, the two stare at each other, cut to black, one of the characters says “this isn’t gonna end well” and boom cut to the title card.

I would love for once for a trailer to be simple, give away nothing. Instead WB will probably put out a 2 1/2 minute trailer showing every fight at length and probably spoil the bigger surprise.

There is no way theaters will be in any better condition then they are today in March. Odds say they will be worse with more lockdowns world wide let alone the US.

If I thought I had a big money making movie on my hands I would definitely delay it to at least Q4 2021.

I’ve done that a bunch of times. I tend to really like it, as not even having an idea of the visual style can be exciting.

Most often with indies or movies I saw at New York Film Festival (because I would typically see around 100 movies a year in theaters at least pre COVID would get trailers for almost all wide releases and many indies just naturally), but sometimes with big studio movies. Probably the most notable one is Mad Max Fury Road, I literally never came across any advertising for it except for posters pre release, so went in fully fresh.
