For future reference and possibly further mind-blowing here is my top ten:

1. Star Wars (The whole shebang. And by whole shebang I mean every movie made. Though Empire Strikes Back is my favorite.)
2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
3. Tron
4. X-Men (the first three movies specifically, with X2: X-Men United being my favorite).
5. The Black Cauldron
6. Spider-Man (the first three movies specifically)
7. The Matrix trilogy
8. The Lord of the Rings
9. The X-Files: Fight the Future
10. Speed 2: Cruise Control
The only way to make this list any worse is to substitute Star Wars for The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Oh no, It could be a lot worse. There are other movies that I love that didn't make the top ten I could always add. That would make the list worse. To name a few:

- Straight Talk
- Superman Returns
- The Amazing Spider-Man 2
- Bad Boys II
- Fantastic Four (2005)
- The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle
- Fantasia 2000 (In fact, I have forgotten about that movie and love it so much it should be in my top ten somewhere. I may remove The Black Cauldron.)

The Matrix > BR 2049 > BR

The first Blade Runner is a total bore.

But if you notice, I said that out of all the Star Wars movies The Empire Strikes Back was my favorite. And I said that out of the X-Men movies X2: X-Men United was my favorite. So that's only two movies. Plus, The Matrix Trilogy and Lord of the Rings trilogy are really one story so that's technically two movies there. In the end, only the Spider-Man trilogy movies are 3 movies. The total movies come to just 12 really. So only two extra movies are added.

The Nun is actually better than half of those movies

And Blade Runner must be in everyones top ten movies of all time. Comparing it to Matrix or Lord of the Rings or X2?? please....

Busted. No one can think Fantastic Four was even a movie. You are trolling and you know Blade Runner is in your top 10 movies of all time.

Not only do I think it is a movie, but I think it is a damn fine comic book movie. In my top 30 for comic book movies.

Don't eat because I have to say I prefer Straight Talk over Bald Runner.

Nar. I liked the 2005 FF, it was good fun. I even liked the sequel for nailing the silver surfer if nothing else

to me it would be a tie between Silverado & Open Range, with Silverado being 1A & Open Range being 1B because I like Kevin Kline's roll a little more than I like Robert Duvall's roll
but in both movies Kevin Costner was excellent

The Silver Surfer one was much better. But it didnt nail quite right the Silver Surfer. Maybe only on CGI if i remember correctly. Because the truth about The Silver Surfer is still a mystery

If we're talking underrated Costner then 3 Days to Kill gets my vote. Kev is fantastic in it and it's a great combination of comedy, drama, action, romance. There is an awesome storyline of him trying to reconnect with his family and the movie is very quirky with a great soundtrack too.

It’s not just one thread that’s changed, the entire forum has. When I first visited here, I was surprised how knowledgeable and articulate people were in discussing movies, even when they disagreed. Sure, you had the outlying troll here and there, but that is exactly what they were, outliers.

Now instead of a place for news and discussion, it’s full of drive-by postings full of ignorant disgust. There is hardly any joy when speaking about movies anymore. Anything positive is quickly drowned out with ridicule.

It would seem the ability to form the cleverest dislike is the new norm. The enjoyment is in hating on things, not appreciating them. Movies have changed, but people have changed more.

Well said.

You can also add to that how people watch a movie has changed as well. It seems as if the trend is moving away from removing distractions and truly immersing yourself for 2 hours. There are a lot of folks who have a second screen going somewhere, whether it is a phone or an iPad, as they feel the need to still be connected in some way. Or, they watch the movie on their computer while posting about it on social media, looking for a reaction as you say.

I truly value the escape that is walking downstairs to leave most everything behind (work, stress, and responsibilities) and to appreciate being entertained.

Honestly, I think that's true of society in general. But that's really a whole different discussion, I guess.

This is still the "unpopular movie opinion" thread or is it the "unpopular opinion about unpopular movie opinion" thread?
