Nolan doesn't like Dolby Atmos for some reason. His sound is usually fine, but they've gotten worse with each new movie. I could barely hear half of the dialogue in Tenet in theaters and at home without subtitles, it's almost just as bad.

Stumbled across this one. We're at the end, which is Oppenheimer. I like that movie, but wow is that some of the worst sound mixing I've ever heard. What a frustrating movie to watch as a result.

SlashFilm did a video on this with quotes/explanations from people in the industry. Some of the voiceover work is annoying but it does provide multiple perspectives.

Crazy how there's visible aliasing in just about every shot that's not a closeup.

I don't like this movie because they don't know how to properly spell the title. Anyone notice that "Bass Turds" is spelled wrong? GOSH!
Also, I don't recall seeing any fish at ALL - let alone bass, and their turds! What a sham!

That's pretty much the same then and Arrow didn't even correct the milky blacks from what I can tell.

If it’s like the Uni disc then it’s not really visible in motion.

So, I appreciate making those available....it stopped my compulsive need to upgrade to the Arrow release (for a PQ difference).

I feel better about “missing out” now, as it’s sold out at most bigger US stores.

I’m not sure if I can even tell “encoding” differences. That seems to be what most people assumed would be the difference between the 2.

I need to be a better consumer. I tend to upgrade without regard to waiting for reviews. I've stopped blind buying (as much) as I used to. I now try to wait to catch the streaming release or rent the digital release before taking a leap for a title that I am unsure about (complete blind buy of new releases).

Relative to upgrades for new releases of titles that I already own on UHD...I will rely on this forum's feedback and the site's reviews. ...Which I appreciate everyone's contributions to this thread!

Yep. My 'eye' for this stuff is a much-lamented part of forums lore but when watching this (65" from 6ft away) the aliasing was a non-issue in motion. But I'll give the Arrow a watch at some point and maybe my perception will change.

Yep, meaningless difference

If anything the Universal offers a bit more since it has HDR10+ in addition to HDR10, but on its own like Dolby Vision that is pretty meaningless also IMO
