Antarctica just hit 65 degrees, its warmest temperature ever recorded.

That's scary. New York City topped out at 57 today, which is ridiculous for this time of year. But 65 in Antarctica is stupefying.

I think because of the rash of marital infidelities.

Seriously though, milk consumption is down, in general. That's not helping. Plus, you now have grocery courier services (Shipt, DoorDash, etc. etc.) which will deliver the milk and everything else, for really not much more than a dedicated milk person. Actually, cheaper in many cases.

I love the glass bottles. I guess plastic is cheaper, but I wonder if glass could be an option if people would agree to go in on the company's recycling/return program.

I would also love to see grocery bags done away with. Period. People should just bring their own bags or containers and cut down on all the one-time use waste.

Not paying attention is something that's just common these days, especially with younger people.

I can't blame them though, as they were indoctrinated into a life of alerts and chimes from the cradle. It's all they've ever known.

I do feel sorry for them, for they are missing out on a lot of what is really in front of them.

Was wondering where you had gone off too. Had noticed that you hadn't been posting in the GF much.
Was going to mention that my parents recently purchased a house (still under construction) in the Waterways neighborhood in Richmond Hill, Ga. I haven't been there myself but they obviously have and really liked it. I've only been to the ATL so haven't been to Savannah or any other places in Georgia.

Hey there. Yeah, I took some self-imposed time off from the boards around the holidays to enjoy some down time, hang with friends and family and to kinda clear my head a bit. Unfortunately, during that time (a few weeks prior to Christmas in fact), a good friend of mine committed suicide and it really threw my wife and I into a bit of a tailspin.

Long story short, we all had been house hunting around the same time, we decided on a place and let my buddy and his wife know we were moving which then lit a fire under my buddy's ass to find a new place as well. Him and his wife found a previously owned place super fast (we're actually building ours) and were able to sell their home even faster. They closed on both places Monday and Tuesday and he killed himself that Friday morning. They had not even started really unpacking yet. His 5-year old son was left without a father less than 3 weeks before Christmas and his wife was left with a huge house and a sizable mortgage to boot.

I've experienced some tragedy in my adult life losing close friends far too early, but I have never lost someone in this terrible way. It's mind boggling, we still can't wrap our heads around it. It's really been a struggle to stay strong and help my buddy's wife keep it together for her son. Life is so short and fragile and you never quite know what someone else is going through in life.

Aren't you glad you said "hey" now? (I'm clearly trying to lighten the mood after my Donnie Downer story from Hell)

I know that my Slash is missing Izzy greatly, as I am too, so I'm constantly giving him lovin and spoiling him with treats.
If I didn't work outta town, I'd get a puppy for him. Not right away, in a few months or something.
My poor boy.

I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like some good things were happening with him. I'm going to assume that no one saw this coming. Good thing his wife and son have you and your wife to lean on (and others I'm sure too) during this time.

I need to find a indestructible shoe. I spend all day, every day on my feet and wear out my shoes nearly every month. Not sure if it's even worth paying $50+ a pair anymore or if I should resort to cheapo $20 Wal-Mart shoes. I try to choose comfort over cost but it seems like a waste of money...

consider buying used footwear from thrift stores. tons of shoes end up in landfills every year and take millions of years to break down. not to mention the fact that youre supporting sweat shop practices when buying new

last week when they asked me paper or plastic I said neither and that i just bring my groceries to my car and then bring the cart/basket back inside. it blew the cashiers mind that someone didnt need bags to get their food from the checkout to their refrigerator. at Aldi, this is normal but if you try doing it anywhere else you are seen as an alien

that's because of the accelerated greenhouse effect due to more CO2 in the atmosphere than what the planet can handle

Thanks so much, I really do appreciate that. Yeah, the timing of it was just unbelievable. I mean, his recently purchased was huge and expensive and I knew there was some stress involved with that, but no, none of saw it coming. I've been in counseling for over 10 years now and am outspoken about it when people inquire so I felt like if there was one person he could have confided in, it would have been me, but alas that never happened.

Anyway back to your parents and their new house. I had never heard of Richmond Hill, GA but after mapping it, yeah it's on the east coast never Savannah and such. I bet it's beautiful out that way. You MUST get there to visit Savannah, it's a great town to hang out, party in or just look at, LOTS of historical stuff there.

Tim Horton's changed their large cups and they won't fit in my microwave now.
I usually get two coffee and drink the first one fairly quickly then nuke the second one for 47 seconds. Now that the cups are bigger, do I pour that 2nd cup into something that fits into the microwave, or do I get a larger microwave?
Hmmm...

Or you could simply only buy one cup at a time..coffee's better fresh anyway, am I right?

Haven't worked out much this winter, and apparently did too many squats this morning. On the way home from the grocery store, a car pulled in around the side so I jogged a little to get out of the way, as I was right in the middle. Almost fell down, my thighs were like jelly. hahaha God how embarrassing that would have been.

I mean, it's not like you aren't going back to the store next week, and the week after that, and on and on.....so, why not just have your own baskets? Why is that so weird?

You know what is actually weird? Producing a plastic bag to carry some items for around 100 feet, and then throwing that bag away forever.
