That is very good idea. I don't know much horror movies from Asia since it's really not my genre (well except House but anyway )

the only other thing i was thinking was maybe a dialogue driven film without a lot of action. that way Czar can learn to adjust to watching while reading and not miss anything.

i'm sure he would love Rec, but if you're not used to subtitles, it can be bothersome. i know a lot of people who, when first reading subtitles, focus sooooo much on the words they don't pay attention to anything else and then suddenly realize they haven't been watching or listening, just reading. so if he starts with a slower paced, dialogue heavy film with little action or camera movements, maybe that would be better so he could learn to watch while still reading?

Plus the dialogue is meaningless in horror.

i would aim for a horror since that's a genre you love, or a shorter, action-y film.

just my two cents

but of course, don't feel you HAVE to ever watch a film with subtitles just because people say you should. if you dislike it, no need to do it right? sure, you're gonna miss out on what OTHERS call great films. but hell, that's all relative and at the end of the day, it's just a film, not a life changing moment. if you ever do though, make sure you let us know
Yea that makes sense. Got Em!!

"House" wouldn't be a good starting point either; it's pretty darn weird. Come to think of it, lots of Japanese horror movies are weird.

Next best option: "The Host." In fact, I think it has English dubbing on it. Should be good for Czar.

Good evening, my lady friend, good evening? My French sucks. Watching Anastasia - to which I will simply give a 5/5 overall score to and say once again I still consider it the best Fox animated film ever.

I remember the first film I watched with sub-titles that got me hooked was "City of God."

Hey Czar, I strongly suggest you check these out (when the time comes that you decide to finally watch some foreign films). I'm sure you're bound to like at least one of them.

Have you tried watching foreign movies dubbed?

The first time I checked it out, I just wasn't feeling it, so I turned it off after a couple of minutes. I'm aware that the movie has so much positive acclaim, so I'm sure it's good. I'll probably try to watch it again when I'm in the mood for it.
