Is anime guy going to tell us what arthouse film they’re currently watching in intervals to post gifs in this thread so we can give them the validation they seek for discovering the Criterion collection in 2021?

An interesting question. Since you're clearly curious, I actually bought my first Criterion title (the excellent The Hidden Fortress) more than five years ago. It wasn't long after I watched The Seventh Seal on Youtube, was blown away, and decided to look more into older films.

I've genuinely enjoyed, and have been very thankful for the many excellent recommendations I've gotten on this thread. Branching out to new directors and new films has been a delight. I wasn't aware this was some kind of competition or race, or that such a discussion could be misconstrued as seeking validation.

And yes, in a very few cases, I've posted while taking a quick break from a film but it's by no means something I always do. In fact, one was The Human Condition, a film I'm fairly certain not many people watched in one sitting.

Now that I've answered your question, here's one for you in return:

Are you capable of making a post here that doesn't make at least one person cringe?
