Sounds like a way for Disney to cheap out on the VFX budget by having the CGI creature played by a real actor But it is a cool idea. I do wonder if during a Luke/Plagueis face-off, Christensen simply pops up as a Force Ghost or some reanimated vision to throw Luke off his game (and thanks to the DVDs, LUKE KNOWS WHAT HIS DADDY REALLY LOOKS LIKE!).

Having seen it myself, I'd say this film is going to fall firmly in the mid to upper 80s on RT. It might hit the low 90s, maaaybeeeee....

Those who are on this site saying it's not being released to critics because it is a bad film are...

1. Completely obtuse....

2. Completely ignorant of the fact that the studio chose to do this for "secrecy" purposes.

3. Willfully attempting to bait people. Oops I fell victim.

Hey guys, some of may notice that the title and thumbnail for today's Movie Talk has been changed. Pretty soon, the video itself will be edited down as well to remove the first topic discussed (it was a Star Wars topic). I just wanted to get on here before any speculation started as to why this is happening.

A few hours after the show posted, Disney contacted me and very respectfully requested that we take the segment out. Please understand Disney has never... in almost 10 years that I've dealt with them... EVER requested that I take anything down (nor have I ever put them in a position where they would feel the need to ask). My team and Disney have always had a very good relationship. When I talk mad **** about Agents of Shield, they have never asked me to "tone it down" or "please say something nice". They have always respected our editorial integrity. So when they politely called me and requested we take a topic down today I decided to grant the request. It wasn't an urgent story that fans "had a right to know" or anything important. I didn't feel that removing the topic was somehow a "disservice to the fans", or was in any way "important to the community". So I felt ok about pulling it.

It's important to know that the studios don't have any editorial influence over us, and Disney fully agrees with that. However, just because someone isn't your boss, doesn't mean you can't do something for them if they make a request. Today, Disney made a respectful request, and out of respect we obliged.

So that's it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I'll answer what I can. Cheers!
Well, I guess Snoke being Plagueis is as good as confirmed then.

Confirmed by Disney. I remember making a prediction with Age Of Ultron about Quicksilver being killed off, and also about Hulk being sent into space. It got removed. I have no idea by who as it was on reddit. After watching Age Of Ultron it came true, so if someone takes something down, it's usually true, if it was only speculation it would not be damaging to Disney and they would have no reason to remove anything.

That's what they want you think. Perhaps the JJ disinformation machine is still in full swing barely a week from release?! He's a dedicated man.

From the trailers and the little we actually know, my bet is that the production values are going to be very good and I think we're even going to get some pretty good acting (within the confines of this genre) and interesting characters. But what I think we might not get is originality. I think it's going to be a bunch of stuff that we've pretty much seen before, much like a James Bond film. There's rebels and villains and battles in space and blowing up stuff and Jedi and Sith and characters who don't know who they really are. That's not necessarily bad, but it's unrealistic to think that any Star Wars film can have the impact of the very first one because we already know this world.

Guys, it's screening for critics the day after the premiere. They're just trying to maintain the film's secrecy.

I realize that, but generally the major press publishes a review on the day of a film's premiere.

This will make it one or two days after. It also means that major reviewers are likely to see the film in small screening rooms and not on big, well-equipped screens unless they attend public showings since most theaters are showing SW around the clock the first week.

World Premiere is the 14th, same day as the critic screenings. Film launches overseas on the 16th, and stateside on the 17th. I have no idea where you're getting the idea that critics are going to see this event film in a small room in substandard conditions or on the same day as launch.

Exactly, when they have stuff taken down that's usually because it's accurate. If they wanted to get rid of any and all speculation, no matter how off-base it was, they'd be very busy, all of the time.

Of course, that sneaky Abrams. But if he's doing everything in his power to make us think Snoke is Plagueis in order to hide his real identity, then who is he really? Oh shit... Luke!

If Hayden Christensen or Portman show up on screen, I'm walking out of the theatre...maybe

Maybe good in other movies....or great in the case of Portman, but I wanna forget they every happened in the Star Wars universe.

I was joking. If there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that Luke isn't a villain, especially not one of the established villains.

Don't read this. It's probably malarky, but it's what I've heard. So don't read it.

Still here? Ok -- Snoke is keenly interested in
[Show spoiler]the Skywalker bloodline, the descendants of Anakin Skywalker, meaning Leia and maybe Luke's offspring. Snoke already has one of the two children...Kylo, stolen from Luke's training in a violent raid. Now he wants the other child...Rey, but after the raid, she was hidden from him. Snoke captured Kylo and brainwashed him, and Kylo is a devoted servant, but Snoke wants both children.
Well, that's what I heard, said Bill Murray.
