I'd be shocked if a major title like KOTFM didn't get a physical release

An Oscar-nominated Scorsese flick NOT automatically getting a physical media release is something I can't even begin to wrap my mind around.

I'm trying to understand, is it worth watching? Is the Oscar justified?

Martin Scorsese ... all his films are on Blu-rays am I wrong? The filmmaker is famous for loving films and preserving them.

Killers of the Flower Moon is an Apple's flix.
It's on Blu-ray in Italy (2K and 4K).
In North America it is streaming ... Apple TV+
Blu-ray 4K? Let ask Scorsese; perhaps in the future there'll be an expansion beyond Italy and coming to America.

Criterion Collection keeps resonating in my head I don't know why. I love Italian wines...some.

Of curse I was wrong, duh. So no surprise here if Killers of the Flower Moon doesn't get a physical disc in North America.
Italy is where the action is, forget USA and Canada and Mexico.

Next ...

Yeah, just like they boycotted WB after they shelved Batgirl and Coyote vs. Acme.

You both got it; M O N E Y

It's like in the movie; killing the Indians for their oil money.

No Oscar but plenty of Apple devil money.
Hope more folks can see the film ... outside Apple TV+.

Like Amazon, Apple will finance this film when no one else would and give Scorsese final cut.

Not sure about about amazing but both Apple and Amazon have so much money that they could care less about how much the film makes. But a film by an important filmmaker like Scorsese or Woody Allen will drive their audience to their streaming app.

That's because you live in the Bluray.com forum bubble, the general public which is 99.99% don't care. Physical Media rules here but most people have moved on. My friend who was an ardent physical movie buyer now just looks at the streaming deals here. He's about ready to dump the movies he "owns" [long term rents] the digital.

Again, only us here in the forum and a few other movie forums care. Oppenheimer and Barbie were exceptions to the rule, not the rule anymore.

If you finance a film you get to do whatever you want to do with it. We can sit here all day and wonder what is going through these executive's heads and decision making process but they are following the Netflix model. If we paid for it you gotta come to us to watch it.

It was strange when Disney didn't release Barbarian on bluray. Even Universal is still evaluating whether to release a film on bluray only or put the 4K out later if the bluray does well. The situation with Barbarian was really strange though since it made money and was fairly successful. Not even a bluray release but they put out all the tanked Disney/Marvel films, but like Universal is evaluating whether a 4K release is worthwhile financially.

They have meetings all day about what to release. Lots of number crunching. On a very small level I've been in these types of meetings at a boutique company I used to work for. But I also worked at Universal and it's all a numbers game.

So many people I know who have AppleTV did not like this film much. Many turned it off half way through which was easy since they are at home. The hype and Scorsese is the only reason they decided to watch the movie. Only one person I know loved it but she's like your typical Oscar voter. The box office also reflected what the people thought of this film, just like Madame Web and The Marvels high profile superhero movies.

You can lead a horse to water...

Ukraine Killers of the Flower Moon

True; we're in a Blu-ray bubble here. Time to see the world outside.

* Apple too is in a bubble ... a monopole one.

As for Scorsese's 'Killers of the Flower Moon'; it is what it is.
And not a single Oscar win; that's a fact.

Emma Stone; her second Best Actress Zoscar.

Money makes this world into orbit, and everything else in it.
