Hi levcore,

Actually I get a pleasure when I see my calibrations and tweaks do a half way decent job of "simulating" 3D. Better than autoconversion. Not a substitute for authentic 3D but often quite satisfying based on the effort and result. Perhaps 13th man might start a thread on 3D simulation, if there isn't one already.

Again, no substitute for authentic 3D but I think a nice offshoot for discussion. I can say that I felt great pride with how I got Rocky Mountain Express to look fantastic considering it was simulated. Same with Peter Jacksons King Kong and Goldfinger. And okie was right about the first two Hunger Games entries.

I agree Joe, and with 300 3D movies how could anyone not consider me a genuine 3D fan and you with 900?

Just watched once more Journey to the Center of the Earth.

This was my first introduction to home theater 3D. At the time I only had a standard HD monitor and so what I had was an anaglyph DVD with the glasses. Of course they were double and even triple images at times, however, I was still floored by the 3d effect. From that moment on, I knew eventually I was going to get a 3D monitor once my set needed to be replaced.

Yes, there are a lot of pop outs which first impressed me and still do, yet now find them less necessary if more for a gimmick then to add to enhance for a specific effect. The movie is Silly Fun and a great example of 3D. Anyone experiencing 3D for the first time on home theater will be wowed by the immersiveness and those gimmicks

Hi okie

I actually only have a bit over 500 at this point. Glad you feel the same regarding simulation at home as part of being a genuine 3D addict and different than supporting knock off autoconversions. Some discs I play recallibrated are duds but others as mentioned give me self satisfaction and pride in my equipment. It is certainly helped having the Darbee 5000s

Such a fun film and great 3D experience.

Hi disco,

I also played Journey on my den set up, which uses the 3D Video Wizard, to compare the picture quality against my actual 3D monitor in the living room.

Still a compelling 3D experience with a lot of depth though the popouts did not protrude as far out as they did on my active 3D monitor. But that still says a lot about this disc, considering the Wizard is an anaglyph device attached to a standard HD monitor. Add to that, feeling good about the nice depth, little crosstalk, color, detail and overall quality of the Wizard itself, considering its limitations and use of a flat HD monitor.not meant for 3D.

Dug Journey alot and wonder why I waited so long to buy it.

Last night was German version of Dragon Blade. Was a little bummed by no subtitles for the Chinese but stuck with it to get to the mostly English part. Was a trip to see John Cusack in that role as I always think of Better Off Dead and his earlier flicks. Couldnt tell if he was acting very stoically or kinda mailing it in at times (other than the fight scenes). Jackie showed some good range and Brody made a good baddie. Liked the Roman/Chinese mash up. 3D was enjoyable especially in the fight scenes. Liked it, but doubt I would try to get the HK version with the subtitles out of laziness and it seems hard to come by...

Hit up Hamilton for Snowtime and Comin at Ya, plus 2d extended Wrath of Khan for the tribbles in my life...

Just so I can update the main thread, can you confirm if it is region free?

It’s the German mediabook region B locked, per the disc, I’ll put it in tomorrow and verify.

Watched Julia X. Pretty good movie with exceptional 3D. If you don't have it, get it. Carpenter's music a nice touch.

Legend of Sarila last night. Reviews are pretty accurate. Animation 2nd or 3rd tier but didnt take me out of it too much. 3D serviceable. Recommended for the unique setting of Inuit Canada and the mythology. Worth the pickup at a low price. I paid $8-9 bucks plus piece of shipping from dddhouse

This was a nice animation palate cleanser because if I had to sit through one more 3D kids movie about a circus...

Lego Movie 2

We were listening to the soundtrack and my wife said we should watch it again. Well we have been using a random generator to pick out our movies and tonight this actually came up as the first choice....we we watched it again and laughed. Really a fun movie and the 3D is pretty good.

We watched RIPD last weekend. It was OK, had great 3D , but the movie itself was not as good as I recalled.

Got One More Time with Feeling today. For some reason I always think of Kentucky Fried Movie when I see that phrase. Bought it because its 3D but always looking to expand my musical tastes.

I thought it was just me, but I've turned on the first one two or three times now. Got through 5 or 10 minutes and shut it off each time. It's a shame because I assumed they would get better if I kept watching, but just don't feel like it. Have all the 3d one too, I think.
