I hope all versions of this release sell well, so we see them release Lord of Illusions. I am not cancelling my pre-order.

Hopefully that won't be the case, but I've seen stranger things happen.
Honestly... I rather get #5000 or #10,000 than any of the other random assortment of numbers (Outside of #1). I like the thought that I would have the very last copy from the initial run or from the extended run. But I purchased from amazon during the initial pre-order so I'm sure I'm doomed to #3849 or some other completely random number with no significance.

I want #5001. It'll definitely be worth the most when it will one day be referred to as the blu-ray that started Nerd War I.

Not fussed the 5000 limited edition becomes a 10000 regular release. What I'm not happy about a surprised so many just accept the $80 price??? I mean did I understand wrong when people complained at that the 'justification' was to do with the time and research and this and that etc.

Well should it not now be $40???? If they worked out $80 for 5k covers that and nice profit. Should now be half right

Gosh, its sold out and people complain. They print more and people complain. Maybe the bottom line is: don't complain.

And as I've said in the Twilight Time thread: anyone who thinks this will be a "collector's" item, or worth something because it's limited, is sorely mistaken, no matter how many copies Shout makes. It's physical media, and won't be any more valuable than the millions of albums, DVDs, VHS tapes and laserdiscs that litter 25 cent bins around the world.

And why fault them for the price? You people think that $80 was justified just because it was "limited"? They certainly can't lower it now that they sold 5000 copies… and they met fan demand by (I assume) getting WB to allow them to print more (for, I also assume, a higher licensing price). So they still have to pay for that licensing, and it's still "limited." You people think WB just allowed them to print 5000 more copies at no extra charge?

For the record, this isn't the first time Shout has reprinted a limited edition run. After the initial run of the Freaks & Geeks Yearbook set sold out, they later reprinted it and rereleased it.

It didn't bother me then (I had missed out on the Yearbook set, having gotten into the show after it had sold out), and I'm not bothered here, and I had a copy already secured. After all the complaining in every Twilight Time thread about sold out titles, and yet people still complain when more titles are made available. I wouldn't complain if Shout lowered the price, but keeping in mind that they would've had to renegotiate with WB for the additional copies, I don't see that happening.

Well that's just not true at all. There are plenty examples of physical media that are more valuable than others. There are still VHS tapes that are valuable. To this day I still deal with certain VHS tapes.

I was also irked at the Freaks & Geeks situation. Anytime someone releases something, touting it as being truly limited, they should keep it as such. It is literally a bait and switch tactic, not matter if they originally intended to do so or not.

My stance has always been that this is a good move, but they should've increased to 7,000 or 8,000 first, just to be on the safe side. That being said, I can see why some people are happy, some are sad, and some are mad. It's basic logic. I think a lot of the people who are happy over this turn of events, however, have been overly condescending / mocking of their "opponents", and that they've misrepresented the state of things in several posts.
I completely agree. I can understand wanting a price drop since the production run has doubled. I just don't understand people who feel cheated or hope Scream gets a ton of cancellations when they are not being forced to buy this. That being said had it initially been 10,000 copies would they still have not ordered this? Also I get the feeling most people complaining didn't cancel their orders which is why they are upset. Otherwise what's to be upset about?

Yes I was unhappy I didn't secure a preorder and then now I'm happy since I can get a copy. Fail to see your point. Its like you point out something really obvious and somehow it relates to people complaining about something totally different simply because it carries the same sentiment of being upset.

I don't care if its limited or not, or if it sells out fast or slow. I think you misinterpreted my point.

Anyone who complains about more product being made available to fans is just wrong. Not everyone is in the know about when a certain product goes on sale or how much of that particular product is available to the public.

Rejoice.....more people get the opportunity to get something they love and at a much cheaper price than those people on Ebay are trying to sell it for.

So being a collector's item and having a limited run with less chance of obtaining and owning makes something not valuable? Have you collected anything in your life? Cars, statues, baseball cards, Beanie babies, anything? As far as films, I'm sure they had a contingency plan all along with WB if they sold a certain amount to allocate more. They should strip the LE title and sell it for cheaper. I love Scream but this was a bait operation from the get go. A tad dishonest.

Is Amazon gonna get their shit together and put this back up for pre-order? Or is the remaining 5,000 only available through Shout! Cause I'm not feeling their 80 dollar price tag.

It's been less than 24 hours since the added inventory was announced. Since that time Amazon has already put THIS PAGE back up. It had been taken down when they sold their allotment initially. What more do you want? Sign up to be notified when it's available or watch this site. When they know how many additional copies they'll be receiving they'll open the orders back up.

They will. It took them a few days to post it the first time.

Were people actually getting cancellations from the various sites such as Best Buy, Amazon.Ca, etc.?

Nothing personal, but keep that collector's mentality for those baseball cards, bottle caps and all that crap away from movies; I don't care if labels release limited steelbook versions of existing titles, just make sure in the case of Nightbreed, a celebration such as the LE is for Nightbreed fans, is available for them and not for children who simply 'collect' and couldn't give a damn. I keep reading absurd comments stating "this was announced a year ago" and they had plenty of time. What a load of BS. This is holiday time. Fans of the movie are still bound to discover this edition and there are those who want it but couldn't get it right away. This will still sell out at 10.000! It will just take longer, the only losers here are the ebay scalpers. And if you're upset your resale value of the LE is in danger, simply cancel your order and go and speculate on another "blu-ray" or perhaps the stock market where you can make real money.

"bait operation"? These guys took a risk. They invested time and resources in putting together the new director's cut and these releases (which Morgan Creek laughed off years ago) and negotiated with Warner to make the LE happen. Do you honestly think they set out to lie and cheat their customers for money? They could have easily just slapped that VHS Cabal cut on a disc alongside the theatrical version. They didn't. They saw Nightbreed had a big enough following and decided to make this release happen for the fans, not simply for the cash or the collect-ability. Could you have predicted the interest in this release? They obviously didn't expect the demand to be so high and to cater to it, expanded the limitation. I'm sure they'll still have to pay Warner considerate chunk for the additional copies. But they took a risk and it paid off. Well done to them!

Those still complaining about the price, cancel your pre-order of the LE, get the standard edition and simply buy the theatrical release once it gets released on its own. Problem solved.
