Still the best explanation of the rebuild movies IMO. They are a meta commentary on the original series and it's fans who didn't understand the point of the originals series.

I don't care for them but maybe the fourth will turn things around, who knows.

Movies are better than the series for me.

Rebuild from movie to movie is getting worse, to be honest. If it weren't for the fact that I love TV series or manga, I would forget about these movies at all, lol.

I'll probably act like they don't exist if the fourth one is a letdown. Stick with the original and only bother with what I like.

Have the same opinion about the series. It just gets worse and worse until you have a let down of an ending. Fourth movie could right some wrongs.

I prefer viewing End of Evangelion as the series finale. The final two episodes are better off viewed after you finish the film, in my opinion.

End of Evangelion wasn't much of an end either.

I just really want to see Shinji and Asuka asdf it out. That's what normal people do.

I loved the first two rebuild movies more than the series when I first saw them, but upon re-watching everything when Netflix got the series I feel like time was not kind to the movies. They're still very good, but the series and EoE are godly.

The rebuild movies are just that a rebuild, the Earth got rebuilt after EoE. They make more sense watching them as a sequel to EoE and not a complete retelling of the series.

I don't agree with that at all. Rebuild to me and to the director is not a sequel. But you can look at that if you want. Doesn't make sense to me.

I've always thought of the Rebuild films as more of a redo. Less of a sequel or even a remake, but a second chance for the characters to reach a better alternative. The TV series ended with Shinji accepting instrumentality, whereas in End of Evangelion he rejects it. So I'm curious to see what fate Shinji decides to choose in 3.0 + 1.0.

The problem with Anno is that he relies on ambiguity too much, and you can clearly see this in Evangelion. Creatively speaking; he can't write closure worth a damn.

I don't see it as a sequel. Maybe an alternate timeline or something like that.

No one else thinks Anno is trolling the fans?

I wonder if Anno will have to rebuild the Rebuild films 14 years after the last film in which he does a meta-meta-meta commentary. xD
