Are you Biwired or Bi-amplified Biwired wont matter since you are coming strait from the same source so it will act like a thicker wire. As for Really bi amping seperately then it would require work on the X-over of your Energy center speaker.

I guess I'm gonna be a new Energy owner... Just surrounds though but still Energy . Placed an order last night for a pair of RC-R surrounds to replace my Paradigm ADP-390's. I like the bipole/dipole/monopole option so now I can play around with it and see what really sounds best for rears in my room. Shoild be her hopefully next week!

recommend a good 7.1 movie to test out with them? Rambo.. what else hmm..

That should sound great with your Studios, Why not try T2 in 6.1 DTS MA ES Matrix or Top Gun in DTS HD MA High Res 6.1.

If you own Gamer in 7.1 then try it!!!

I like Transporter 3 also in 7.1, Insane!!!!.

Do you have a 5.1 setup, because I have an extra C-100 speaker. I don't use it because I already have 2 pairs already. The only thing is the tweeter. It doesn't sound right and I had it fixed under warranty by Energy, and I don't see any improvement so I just let it be. If you're interested.. I'd sell it for really cheap if you can find someone to fix that tweeter.

Default RC-10 update

Should receive my RC-10's tomorrow. I will start playing them for a few hours to get in some break in time on them. Boy, 100 hrs is a lot of time.
I'll give my thoughts on them tomorrow evening if they should come in as planned.

Mike

simply let them play at a very low volume all day... that is what I did, you just need to warm up the voice coils and loosen the drivers.... about 2-3 days of that and you will be pretty good.

Thanks Callas, I'll do that. I'll have to play them for about 4 or 5 hrs per day for a few days and all day on Saturday.

I have some Vivaldi guitar concerto music picked out to warm them up.

yes, orchestral music will work well because it can challenge the full range of the speakers... any symphonies will work good also... I let mine play all day while I was at work... 10 hrs per day, then I watch TV normally on them figure they got about 15 hrs per day of use...I had my speaker warmed up by the end of the week....

Yes, that's what I was thinking. It is a full orchestra with guitar so it should be a good warm up. Strings, guitars, the whole 9 yards.

I'm not too comfortable with leaving them play while I'm at work. Maybe over night while I'm sleeping...

either way.... I just didn't want to wait a month for them to break in... although, i would say that about a week or 2 of normal listening should be ok also.

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. I didn't want to wait a month either, but I just don't want to leave stuff on while I'm not home. I even turn off all the ceiling fans in the house before I leave. I've heard of homes catching on fire from leaving things running like that so I'm real cautious.
Anyway, I'll play them for a few hrs each evening, maybe even over night on low volume, and of course all weekend. I'll do that for a couple of weeks and I should be good.
Thanks again for all your help and advice.

personally, i think you should crank them right out of the box. heck, i did that w/ my rc10s with no ill affects. the "break-in" period, to me, is just the time it takes your brain to get used to the new sound characteristics of the speaker...

just my humble opinion...

Oh, now you see, arrt takes the more scientific approach. crank those baby's up. Well, being my overly cautious self, I will probably just play some classical music and watch some tv through them for a few days before I crank them up too much. I never really play them all that loud anyway, at least until I put in some Saving Private Ryan or Rambo, then that's a different story.
