I think it's great that everyone is into the movie, but I just don't want there to be an overabundance of excitement. Like people cheering and screaming at every little thing that happens. There are some spots where it's guaranteed to happen, like Luke showing up for the first time. But I've been to some films where there are those individuals that have to react to every damn thing, and it's freaking annoying.
Unfortunately with this being the 1st SEQUEL to Star Wars since 1983, it's going to be unavoidable if the crowd does get rowdy. I personally think it will add to the excitement, as long as there aren't any Ass Hats just yelling random crap out at every scene!
Still disappointed it's only one sequence. Even more disappointing that we don't know how long that sequence will be (most likely less than 10-15 minutes shot).
It's an odd decision to shoot only for one sequence, especially when JJ shot in IMAX for multiple sequences in Star Trek Into Darkness.
Isn't that what going to movies are all about? The audience experience? I freaking love that. You're part of an event. It's bound to happen. That's like going to a sports game and expecting the fans not to cheer when their team scores a goal. That just doesn't happen.

What I don't understand is why only one sequence when there could arguably be bigger sequences that are more suited to the bigger format? The Escape from Jakku is definitely going to be a huge sequence, but what about the other ones being advertised in the movie. I don't believe there's only one event that's worthy of being experience in a larger format; there should be more, considering the scope of the movie.
I understand you can't shoot everything in IMAX, and I'm not arguing for that. I just wish they wouldn't limit it to one mere sequence.
Anyone else terrified of their crowd being horrible? I recently had the worst movie experience of my life when I saw Mockingjay Part 2. I paid 17 dollars a seat, and have waited my entire life for this film. I'm going to be crushed if someone ruins this film for me.
You should go to the 21 and over theaters. They are pricey but so worth it. We have one down here called Cinebistro which is owned by Cobb Theaters.

my local held the "May The 4th" event last year, costumes galore, audience totally dug it. Amazing to think a franchise over 30 years old can still command such respect.

We have an Alamo draft house about two hours away. I may go someday. I'm thinking my showing will be jerk wad free since I'm going in IMAX, with assigned seating.

The only thing that worries me is that if there's a really bloody and brutal death, everybody will laugh and carry on about it. Just like they did with The Purge and Sicario. Because, obviously, every death in those movies are hilarious and worth cheering about.
There's nothing wrong with being excited for a movie. I think you're being hard on it, fair enough if the prequels left you cold, but I think this movie is going to be almost as good as anything we got in the OT. From our one firsthand view on here by a certain member, that seems to be the case.
Not only have they proven themselves, they're all incredibly great actors. Daisy Ridley is the only wild card, but as you said, even her performance in the trailers so far has been very good. People get so crazy over name talent anyway. Do we remember where Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford were before Star Wars? Small actors who hadn't done much, and Ford was a carpenter. Not exactly the most profound actors, and they were the leads over guys like Alec Guinness and Peter Cushing, and the movies turned out great.
As for the main trio being too old...No way. Mark Hamill is 64, Fisher is 59, and Ford is 75. How is that too old? I'm glad their health, especially Ford's, is good enough that he can still act and make movies like this. It's not like they're playing their characters right after Return of the Jedi...They characters have aged with the times, so there's nothing "too old" about it.
Relax. Go get a massage. Meditate. You're way too invested in this. Abrams is not a sociopath, but quite frankly, you sound like you might be.
Think about it: We've got ISIS, the Paris attacks, the U.S. attacks, people getting killed by guns every day, a leading candidate for President who is running a cynical, racist, xenophobic, sexist campaign; a poor economy in most of the world, global warming, racist cops, etc., etc., and you're enraged because a movie studio didn't release as much information about a Star Wars movie as you'd like in advance of release which is only a week away anyway.
