I've already seen/guessed far too much. I spoilered the daylights out of Sith and it really did ruin it for me because I felt like I'd seen the film already, so I've been a little more wary about hoovering up every little thing like I did before. I've still looked at plenty of stuff, but haven't come across a script and stuff like that, thank god.

Is it a good thing I avoided every trailer and tv spot for this?

The first movie I ever do that for turns out to be the biggest movie in the last three years.

But, OTOH, we KNEW how Sith was going to end. Hell, we knew how the entire PT would end. This? Well, this is something that we truly haven't experienced in over 30 years.

I found out the film opens with a crawl just like the other six. Film is now ruined for me and I am staying home.

Simplistic much? Of course we KNEW how it was going to be ultimately resolved but I'd seen/read/heard of everything else that the film could offer, right down to the dialogue (such as it is).

Simplistic? I guess. Sorta. But, really, we knew - beat by beat- how the last 20 minutes go.

Anakin/Ben fight on a volcanic planet. Ben wins. Anakin turns into Vader. Kids are brought to different places. That is, in essence, the entire ending of the movie and that trilogy. There were no surprises.

I don't think anyone saw "Noooooo!" coming. And the biggest surprise of the movie(Anakin's reason for turning to the Dark Side) was a massive disappointment and made no sense.

How else would he feel if his wife was killed?

Hopefully. It can't be as painful watching Tony Jaa get whooped in Furious 7.

BTW, how the hell did Palpatine even know she was dead at that point? Not to mention the circumstances behind her death. Was there a CNN news alert or something?

After helming a Star Wars movie does anyone think J. J. Abrams would be willing to direct Star Trek IV which was already announced for release in 2019????

I like to have an idea of what to expect, partly because I have all these grand images of what I want to see in my mind and sometimes I need a reality check to avoid disappointment when it doesn't really match the film I hoped/expected to see. Lord knows how I'd reacted to Battle of the Five Armies for example if I'd gone in blind without knowing about Legolas' shenanigans and him basically replacing Beorn in the battle.

Even knowing roughly what happens in parts, there's still an element of surprise in seeing how it's all brought to life on screen so no, it doesn't ruin the experience for me.
I've read pretty much everything possible on this film. Even still there's tons I DONT know. I won't be spoil wrong myself for 8/9 or the spin-offs though. I personally LOVE Star Wars. This is my favorite series of all time. I really had to know the direction they were taking this series. I needed to know if we were getting a New Hope, or Phantom Menace.

Now that I know, I'm done. No interest in spoilers in the other films.

Yeah. Why else would you Choose to SELECT where you want to sit, so You pick the Best vantage point that you're accustomed to?? - I do this for as many films as possible
[Show spoiler](usually in IMAX theaters back home or Dolby Atmos, which is where I'll be seeing this. I did it for THE WALK, SPECTRE, & doing it for This one too [12/17, 10:10pm show, all at an Awesome DOLBY ATMOS theater where Every chair is a Fully Reclining Leather seat]).

I'm just saying, there might be people who weren't able to pick their best viewing spot and had to sit somewhere in the front, back, or side of the theater. What if they arrived early and saw the opportunity to seat where they weren't supposed to? What I'm getting across is people are going to sit wherever they see seats available even if their ticket says something different. I guess that's just because of the people in my area where I live don't respect others.

He's only the most powerful force user in the universe. Hell, Yoda could feel the Jedi dying light years away. It's reasonable to assume that Palpatine felt Padme's death.

Or he just didn't care and told Vader she was dead to lure him even further to the dark side and kill off the last piece of his soul.

And with that, a new theory rises. What if Padme never died?

Originally, Lucas planned for Padme to live, but changed his mind to make Vader's fall more dramatic. The novel makes it clear, that Vader is trying to kill Palpatine when he's strapped to the table...but his powers have been vastly reduced by the damage to his body. That's why only the droids explode, and Palpatine remains unharmed.
