Did you read the article on digitalbits?? Seemingly old Georgie was very keen to replace the Yoda puppet from Empire and Jedi
They did try it but it didn't look right and he was talked out of it. I was going to paste it but I wasn't sure if its allowed seeing as its from another site.

I got my set in Tesco today, £60 which isn't bad when its converted to euros. Fair bit cheaper than HMV.
Just dying to dive in and feel the force. I'm like a kid in some kind of store

Don't let Beast catch you saying that

It was mentioned in the US thread but Beast was quick to say that the tests that were done on the Empire yoda were to see how well it could work out in AOTC

Ah! Heres his post

It has been reported that Lucas did indeed want to go back and make Yoda cgi in TESB and ROTJ for this bd set and Fox did some tests to see how it would look.
the tests didn't look good at all so the idea was shelved.
Lucas was ready to go that route though.
Beast:
That is not what happened at all. The CGI tests for Digital Yoda were for Episode 2. They're on the previous DVDs.

ILM's animators used the footage from ESB as a test for matching the Digital Yoda to the puppet.

The footage was only ever a test to prepare for AotCs. And Lucas in several places has said the puppet is fine in the OT.

Lucas has said many things. Doesn't mean he still won't change it.

Thats not the point that was being made

Point was that the tests done using Empire were for the CGI Yoda in Episode 2 not that GL was doing the tests to replace yoda in the OT.

He could of course do it if he wanted to but thats not what he was doing with the tests at that time.

Haha, I wouldn't want to unleash the Beast....

Thanks for the clarification Mavrick, yeah I seem to recall that now you mentioned it. I haven't been through all of the US Star wars forum. Been a long time since I watched the dvds.
Poor George, a lot of us are very quick to jump on him at even the hint of more tinkering.

Btw does it bother anyone that Vaders helmet is completely symmetrical in EPIII. When in the OT it was completely asymmetrical

Yes you read right...I did put one of the prequels above one from the OT! There's a lot happening in ROTS, and Ewan McGregor & co finally nail their respective parts. ROTJ is good, but is the weakest from the OT, so for me ROTS just pips it.

You're not allowing for the number of times he's bashed his head against doors when walking through them.

Do that enough times on the Death Star and you're bound to end up with an asymmetrical helmet.

I think there are quite a few people who like Episode III more than VI. I will let you know which I like more once I finish off the OT. But I agree, in III they all finally come together and it's awesome! (Quite scary as well to
[Show spoiler]see Vader come about!).

Mines a bit of a controversial one:

1) ROTS
2) TPM
3) AOTC
4) ROTJ
5) ESB (can't decide between ESB or ROTJ - I like both equally)
6) ANH

I think ROTS was definatly the best of the prequels. I think the acting got better for a start, I loved the plot and the inevitable downfall of Anakin and the Jedi. The Blu-ray menu is an awesome summary of what happens in the film with that dramatic Order 66 music. Did anyone just sit and watch the menu until it replayed itself?

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you (roughly)? To prefer all the prequels above the OT you must be young(ish) - I'd say late 20's at the most. Each to their own I say, but I'm guessing you weren't around when the OT came out

I'm 23 and the first Star Wars I saw was Star Wars on VHS in '94/'95 before the changes. And I like all 6 films without preference. I view it as a whole story and couldn't see it any other way.

It's just a shame Lucas used the '97 SE as a test bed for TPM. I think a lot of younger people like myself tend to forget that TPM was in mind during those '97 SE and the script started way back in '94 for the PT.

The flying droids that you see with the stormtroopers on Tatooine I'm ok with because they were in concept paintings for the film even before it was made so at least on that account Lucas was adding smething from his original vision. Things like the comedy duo drroids and the Jawa faling of and swiging on the reins was a but un called for.

But all in all the whole saga to me is one big film that I love and is probably the best saga there is

You should really enjoy 4 5 and 6. They wont look as visually stunning as 1 2 and 3 but they are amazingfor their time and look great on Blu-ray.

I would suggest watching 456 then 123 but as you already know about Anakin it doesnt really matter. and in my view the films watched in order lead up to an even more emotion filed climax at the end of Return of the Jedi. So you should be in for a treat!

i have always told people who have never seen star wars that the 1st viewing should always be 4 5 6 as ESB(5) shockers especially if you had no idea
[Show spoiler]darth vader Luke, I am your father!."

I always suggest that when some one hasnt seen any of the star wars saga I would really hate for anyone not to experiance that great cinema moment in history

But unfortunately they have already seen 123 so I expect that it won't be as big a reveal as it would otherwise be :/
