Quite frankly the "Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival." was way too smug for a guy who just failed his mission and found out his son would rather commit suicide than rule the galaxy as "Father and Son."

Plus, I think everyone was educated enough to realize that the shuttle could make it back to the Star Destroyer in plenty of time while the Faclon was rescuing Luke. I did not need to see Vader boarding the shuttle, flying to the destroyer, Landing, walking off the shuttle, having a soda, getting a massage and then appearing on the deck of said Star Destroyer. Ruined the pacing of the most intense final in all of the Star Wars films.

I know they won't change it, but I can dream. Very much looking forward to this set!

To me is seems like he is mocking the fans complaints of the SE. Just speculation, I could be wrong, and I hope I am! I would love to be pleasently suprised when I buy the blu-ray, I am just not getting my hopes up.

Was the scene with Padme covering Threepio actually shot, or is it just from a draft of the script?

It was shot.

Lucas just axed all of it and had 3PO already covered when they arrive on Tatoonie.

Wow; that would be such a great exchange to see, even if its not put into the film. Natalie Portman and Anthony Daniels together would make for some great moments.

Honestly, I didn't like the Beru/Padme/3PO stuff in the Episode II script when they got to Tatoonie.

By that time, we subtly know how Padme feels for Anakin. Those scenes state the obvious overtly and I just thought it was too much.

I feel the same way about the scenes at Padme's parents house. Those scenes do nothing that wasn't already done with the scene of Anakin and Padme's arrival to Naboo and their walk to the palace. In that full scene, we know everything we need to know about her family, her past, and what she wants from the future.

Not to mention, if you're being hunted down by assassins and you're there to hide out, why would you want to go to your family's house and risk them also being in danger? That's the real reason those scenes got cut...not that Lucas didn't want Padme to have any arc...

Well, Threepio's probably my fave character of the whole saga, and Padme's one of the best in the PT, so having them in more scenes together would be very cool to me. I also like the Rebellion scenes from "Sith", and I think they're an excellent setup for the OT.

There are all the scenes with Padme talking to Beru in the kitchen (ANH feel), Beru working on the vaporators....
This kind of scenes should be very interesting to see because they are evocative of a past we see in epIV.
I always be disappointed not to see enought moments on Tatooine in episode 2. More than that, Joel Edgerton (Owen) sait only 10% of his shooting scenes were in the final cut...

Padme's one of my favorite characters too but I also didn't think the Rebellion scenes of Episode III were necessary either.

Lucas kind of did a brilliant thing with the set up of the Rebel Alliance in Episode III. By making Bail Organa a huge part of the action in the second half of Episode III, openly defying the Chancellor, we see where it begins with him. Add to the fact that he adopts Leia and is part of the planning process with Obi-Wan and Yoda at the end, we see where it starts.

And the brilliant thing is that after that film ends and you go right into Episode IV, read carefully the opening crawl to that film and pay attention to key words.

In conjunction, we see the formation of the Rebel Alliance.

I don't see why people want more Threepio/Padme moments. We have tons of those all the time in The Clone Wars. And all of us watch that, well all the big Star Wars fans in this thread do.

To the non-Star Wars fans who like the movies who may not know what us Star Wars fans know but the show is on equal footing with the films in terms of Lucas's vision. He even himself says so. He writes the story outlines to almost all of the episodes himself and picks out the designs to the new characters introduced, etc. He says his involvement is more hands on than he even was on TESB & ROTJ.

I don't care that much about Padme/3PO scene. However, i'm really looking forward about scenes involving Beru and Owen... Their screen time are really to short. And we have to better understand how Owen seems to know Anakin so well in ANH...

Uh...what? Let me put it another way. It's like saying you are a big Star Trek fan but only ever watching the movies and refusing to ever watch one of the TV Series.

It's Lucasfilm produced (not EU) high quality Star Wars every single week most of the time from George Lucas written story lines. That often uses original movie talent like Liam Neeson, Ahmed Best, Anthony Daniels, Pernilla August, Matthew Wood, Christopher Lee, etc.

Yes. It's part of the Star Wars saga. In my opinion it should be part of the movie boxset but it's still on going so that would not be possible for now.

Uh, no, it's not! If though I am not into Star Trek, I still think the series came before the movie, whereas with SW it was the other way around.

I am going to give them a shot though.

It's like only watcing the tv series then and ignoring the movies.

But regardless, you are missing half the saga if you don't watch the show. It comes directly from George Lucas and he has stated many times the show is equal to the movies in terms of his vision.

Yes, exactly. Once the show is finished it will be incorporated into all Saga re-watches I do. The Clone Wars is as much part of the Saga as any of the films. It's essential to Lucas's vision of the saga.

How can one call themselves a fan of the saga (OT only fans are quite a different thing) when you willfully skip half the Saga, a very central part of the Saga no less? You may be a Star Wars fan if you skip it, but a casual one at best. Missing out on some of the best Star Wars George Lucas has ever written.

Here is something interesting most people don't know. Lucas was the only screenwriter credited on The Phantom Menace. But he wasn't the only writer. He brought in a ghostwriter to fix up the dialouge. And who happened to be that ghostwriter on TPM?

Carrie Fisher.

Most people do know that because it was common knowledge and even talked about by Lucas in a lot of places.

But I believe she herself has even confirmed that she only read the script. As did a lot of people back then.
