Am I annoyed about the slightly higher price? Yes, a bit. Will it stop me from pre-ordering it? Hell no!

If anything, I thought the Kronos box was rather cheap for what we got. Remember how people were guessing at the price before the final details were disclosed. Almost all of us thought it would be more.

I mean, I would have loved for Quatermass to keep the same price point, which I think would have been a very fair price for it. But who knows why this is more expensive - maybe the restoration took more hours and was harder to finish, or maybe they have to calculate in fees for using some of that BBC stuff?

In the end, we now know that Hammer is 99.9% likely to release cheaper standard editions once the limited edition has sold out. So, it really comes down to whether the physical extras are worth the money for you. For me, there is no doubt when it comes to this title, whereas I am more hesitant to spend the money on the limited editions of Four Sided Triangle and Shatter.

The BBC do seem to charge a lot for their content to be included as extras. Why it tends to be quite rare on non-BBC product.

They also seem to charge foreign labels less than UK labels. Why you see more BBC content on discs from the likes of Criterion than the BFI, even though a lot of BBC content would fit many BFI titles.

An example is the BBC's Wicker Man documentary isn't on the various Studio Canal UK releases but is on Imprint's Australian release.

Hopefully we’ll get some Dracula on 4K in this “Ultimate Collection” soon.

As much as I love Hammer (duh), I'm not sure if I can afford a super deluxe special edition every month, especially with the absurd tariffs that are now in effect.

At these prices, I'll stick to only my favorites. I'll try to get Quatermass (I love the first two, especially). I wonder what other titles they got the rights to. I'd jump on Horror of Dracula or The Mummy (my two favorite Hammer movies). The Bride of Dracula or Curse of the werewolf would be pretty incredible too! :P

BRIDES and CURSE are solidly with Universal; however, the other titles you mentioned are definite possibilities, along with CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN and FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL.

Man, I can only imagine how popular Horror of Dracula would be. I'm surprised they didn't start their whole lineup with that one. The Mummy and The Monster from Hell got great 88 films releases not too long ago so I don't know if Hammer would be in as much of a hurry to release those.

My most wanted Hammer deluxe set is a proper 4K restoration of DRACULA (1958) from the ground up, including ALL of the surviving censored footage from the Japanese print, corrected audio editing during the finale, corrected color, and the original DRACULA title card. The BFI totally blew it with their badly flawed and incomplete restoration with the wonky blue tint. The Anolis release was better, as it added a tasty missing shot of Dracula’s anguished face at the end, but the color still sucked. Let’s hope Hammer can finally put things right.

That would be a monster seller (pun intended)! By the way, the Warner Archive release has acceptable color (it's certainly warmer than the BFI), but is ultimately flawed by black crush.

If I had the Warner release I’d never watch it, because it’s cut. Here’s hoping Hammer comes through.

Yes, but those few extra shots come from a crappy old Japanese print (that's all there is), I'm happy with the released version. Dracula is arguably Hammer's best film, & all we have is two duds; the BFI blue/cyan effort (what were they thinking of!) & Warner's crush job. I saw this in a little London art cinema in 1965, & of course I don't remember the exact look, but I do remember being wowed by the vibrant colour.

Those recovered censored shots look pretty good considering the state of the source materials, but a fresh 4K scan, proper color correction, and audio editing fix would work wonders. As of the versions presently available, I’m not gonna waste money on a cut version of the film I’d never watch. I’d rather deal with the wonky colors than a BBFC-censored print, so it’s the Anolis release for this Hammer fan.
