My only reservation about buying the new Spider-Man 2 4k version is that it doesn't have the extended cut of the film.

Did you buy Spider-Man 1 & 2 4k & compare them with the original releases?

It's not a marginal difference. It's a noticeable difference as the review says.
No I didnt buy them but I was able to rent them from a local mom and pop video store. If you think that Spiderman 2 looks good, more power to you, if you like blu rays with the wrong frame rate

You found a video store that rents the 4k Blu-rays.

Wow. That I would like to see.

I'm not the only one that likes the Spider-Man 2 better. The review says it all.

I haven't heard from a person that has actually bought the discs & didn't like them or complained about them. And what's wrong with the frame rate? It's 24fps which the original is also.

Only people that haven't watched the discs & keep regurgitating the same things over & over.

As far as misframing goes look at Hannibal UK (the original pressing). No that I would call misframing.

This I would not. There was a list of films that had been re-released in this thread somewhere that showed where the different releases showed slightly & I do mean slightly different framing.

There is a slight & I mean ever so slight framing difference on Spider-Man 2 but I can tell you the PQ & the contrast & the pop of the colors made this a no brainer if you want the best PQ.

Again I never thought we would have the day where people were complaining over better PQ. That's why I import discs that have better PQ than the US version.

The store rents "Mastered in 4k" blu-ray discs. There are no 4k discs on the open market.
And it seems like everyone is "regurgitating the same things over & over".

Now with that said, I agree, I've bought: Spiderman 1 & 2, Godzilla, Glory, Ghostbusters and Angels & Demons, and have noticed improvement on all of them. Some more than others, but noticeable improvement nonetheless.
Personally I think this line is great, and I hope Sony keeps with it. My only gripe is a total lack of bonus content...but that's easily rectified as I just merge the "Mastered in 4K" disc with my previous, bonus-laden disc.

After looking at the caps-a-holic pics I think I'll skip SM2 after all. I don't really care for the changes in contrast and framing along with the fact that it doesn't have the 2.1 cut of the film.

How big of a TV do you need to find the Mi4k release an upgrade?

I'm a fan of the Spidey movies and I can't see a big upgrade from those cap-a-holics screenshots

I like the "actually" seen it line. These are only available online but we have mom & pop Video Stores renting them? Hmmm....

You have people that have actually bought & compared the movies & then you have the Sony haters that haven't seen the movie & just keep quoting each other.

Just read the review if you have any questions since it's non-biased.

Anyone have any news on the next round of titles?

Don’t let the haters upset you. Choice is always good. If people don’t like something or feel it is not of sufficient value to them, they can always pass on it. Though, I think that much of the consumer criticism of the line in general could have been avoided if the studio had simply changed one word in the marketing, i.e. instead of ‘Mastered In 4K’, should have honestly made it ‘Mastered From 4K’.

Just another example of corporate speak - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ng#post7942849

I think what has irritated many tech bloggers is that they see the whole thing as an intentionally deceptive sales technique.

So now I'm a liar? Wow that's sad, just to inform you it's the same store that I buy my blu rays a week early before release date. SM 2 has framing issues and has been brought up more than once in this thread.

I could be wrong, but I'm going to guess Spiderman 3 is among the titles in the next batch.

I didn't mean to call anyone a liar.

You just have to realize with these only being available online & having a mom & pop store carrying them for rental is hard to believe.

I know no one in my area is carrying them for rental much less for sale.

As far as the framing issue it has been discussed thoroughly in this thread also. It is not a major issue as people that have owned the disc have stated.

It's also been stated by various people that other companies do the same & have posted pictures on various re-releases even Criterion.

A lot of imports that I have bought because they have better PQ on certain overseas releases have different framing than their US counterparts. But again they are slight & not a major issue.

I'd much rather have the better PQ than have slightly different pixels & I do mean slightly different.

I'm looking forward to the next batch of titles & reviews.

Do they have them for the same price as Amazon $14.99?

They run sales on some titles. I'd love to catch some of these on sale.

Do you know of anyone that rents these? I'd love to rent some of these instead of waiting for the reviews.
