8K would be nice but I suppose the most people doesnt care as the most buying still cheaper DVD's instead of bluray or 4K. Just for streaming contents... Im not sure as some area (county) still have issues to stream 4K or SD contents and still will have in the next 10 years

I just told someone yesterday that there is no sign of any real 8K content coming soon. I don't think this counts though since its exclusive to Samsung. |

Can 20/20 human eyes differentiate 4k and 8k video quality on identical screens? No, they can’t. Differentiating between 4k UHD and 2k HD is impossible for most people with most TVs. The acuity of the human eye is based on an angle. Its limit for 20/20 vision at what would be normal viewing distance is 2k HD, or 1920x1080 pixels. This is based on screen size and the standard viewing distance for that size. The bigger the screen, the farther the viewing distance. If you scrunch up to the screen at closer than a standard viewing distance, one can discern a difference between 2k and 4k. Getting close enough to discern between 4k and 8k becomes absurd. The usable AOV, or angle of view for human vision starts cropping out a very significant portion of the screen, especially horizontally. The 4k to 8k ridiculousness is being driven primarily by gamers who want to be a foot from a 72″ diagonal screen. I suppose they also sit in the front row at the movie theater wishing they could get even closer. The bottom line is you’re not going to be able to see the difference if you’re watching movies at a proper viewing distance that allows taking in the entire picture. I’ve been down this same rabbit hole with still photography, digital photos, photo print materials, and gallery print sizes. Heave on top of this the bandwidth limitations for streaming content, whether it’s cable TV or your Roku. They can’t deliver true 4k content and Internet service providers won’t let them - it would bring their systems into complete gridlock. If you don’t believe me, play a current 4k UDH Blu-ray movie released within the past year or two in a certified 4k player to a certified 4k TV (not a movie that was made 20 years ago), and then stream the same movie allegedly at 4k using your Roku. Ensure your HDMI connections and cables are up to snuff for 4k UHD content. You’ll see an enormous difference. The Roku will look softer. Why? You may be getting a 3840x2160 frame size, but its information content isn’t true 4k worth of pixels within that frame size. Its compression is very lossy - which means you’re losing massive amounts of information content. That’s why it looks “soft” by comparison. If you were able to take screen shots, you’d immediately see the difference |
