The thing about "digismear" is that it really depends a lot on how bad it is. The Ten Commandments UHD is truly great, but it has some digismear that thankfully doesn't look too bad.

Auto upgrade will only upgrade it if you own HD. SD will stay SD (but will sometimes get DV added to it).

I’ve tried both an Apple TV and a Chromecastwgtv and it’s definitely playing in SD. I guess I’ll have to wait a bit to see what all the fuss is about.

[Show spoiler]I’m actually really confused considering how much people seem to love it.

Edit: No really this looks absolutely terrible what is everyone smoking

On second thought, I’m far more than half-convinced.
Maybe it's your internet connection because it looks the best I've ever seen this movie look since I originally watched it in theaters. It's definitely in 4K, I'm seeing a lot more detail than I ever seen in the HD release.

Tried No Way Home and it definitely played in 4K, or at least HD. I guess the original blu-ray digital copy was SD only. It’s been checks notes a decade + one year, so I forgot.

Has anyone mentioned that the original 1997 Paramount logo returned, replacing the 2012 100 Years logo from the 3D Reissue?

Just watched a few minutes on iTunes and was surprised.

I had Titanic in my iTunes library from a digital code and I just tried watching a bit of it and it says it’s in 4k and Dolby Vision kicks on, but it looks DVD quality to me, so I’m thinking I might be streaming SD?

Unlike true 4k movies I have, this one still allows me to buy it in 4k with it in my library.

Is this the 1997 logo or…?

I sampled on TV app last night and thought it looked questionable. As of now my broadband is down. Will fire up on Apple TV with Developer HUD on to check what's being streamed.

I said this earlier today:

If you go to the iTunes store and search a title, if it shows a price then you have SD. You have to buy it again for 4K DV/HDR as only direct HD iTunes purchases/redemptions get upgraded.
And someone tried to say this:

That’s not true: you only own SD and depending on your settings, it can place a Dolby Vision or HDR layer over it.

You either had to have bought the HD version or wait and redeem the new code in the 4K set. The 2012 set came with an SD digital code for iTunes.

Yep. The original Paramount logo from when the film originally came out.

For comparison, here is the logo from the 35mm scan.

The 2012 code gave me HD (now upgraded to 4K) when I redeemed it earlier this year. If you still have an unredeemed code or find one for sale, you should be good.

I bought Titanic in HD directly through iTunes Movies. I’m telling you what I see; it’s playing in 4K Dolby right now.

That’s how HD purchases work. We are talking about SD purchases and redemptions.

Those of us who redeemed the old 2012 code way back when got SD copies that do not upgrade to 4K.

My Titanic says it’s playing in 4k Dolby Vision, but there’s no way what I am seeing is 4k.

I’d say the quality looks in between DVD & Blu-ray and very waxy. It has to be SD.

If I play it on my Mac it looks a little off, but on my 4K TV with Apple TV it looks like 4K.

I’m watching mine on an Apple TV.

I know this was redeemed from the 3D digital code years ago.

I did a quick (it's late) comparison of the HD and 4K versions and the HD version is a tad darker in some spots.

Also, my receiver says "Atmos".

Screenshot only for the Info, not image quality.

Just watched my copy of The Fugitive and that youtube guy was spot on - it's a beautiful-looking remaster. Now I'm doubly excited about revisiting Titanic.
