I was considering buying another AA sub but after seeing the run around, awful and stupid customer service duneaholic received I will not buy another.

Shame companies are sometimes too stupid for their own good.

Agreed. I was planning to buy a pair of AA subs, but now I'll go with another brand. I'd rather pay more for a better-built sub from a company that doesn't try to screw its customers.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...=82738&page=15 - post# 286 - Another option, diff. company yes, but good customer service - I'd email or Talk (call today! lol) to ERIC there. He gave me a coupon code last week & I saved 15% off the total price - essentially making it $223 TOTAL (including shipping) for my PA-120. Just an option guys. Good luck!

All too true. You can't go wrong with the PA-120. Anytime I call the distributors they ANSWER the phone and it's not "someone will call you within 3 hours" and then nobody ever does. With Acoustic Sound Design and Sound Distributors they aren't as big and you get a more personalized experience then with The Deep Discount. And a awesome sub to boot.

I was late in turning in my "warranty card" so now I receive a email from the DD that it's now too late and my subwoofer is not covered by the 3 year warranty. Did anyone know that if you don't turn in your warranty information that you don't have a warranty? I'll admit that I'm not the best at getting my warranty info turned in the day I get it....I mean I may wait a week or more but I always get it turned in and it has never been an issue with any other piece of equipment I own. I went to the Acoustic Audio website and turned in my warranty and replied via email that I did so and here is the response I received from The Deep Discount. It almost seems they are enjoying the fact that I have a defective sub and won't take care of it. I am extremely disappointed in The Deep Discounts customer service and how they enjoy not helping people. If customer service is important to you then I highly suggest you look elsewhere for your equipment. They do not answer the phone, and they email you back very slowly! It could be out of the 30 day satisfaction guarantee by the time you get your issue even close to resolved. Buyer beware.

Shawn,

That was a nice try, but the warranty must be registered within 10 days of
receiving the item. The subwoofer was delivered to you on 08/05/09. The
warranty was not registered until 08/25/09.

What about your 30 return policy???? If it's defective then why does it
not fall under your 30 satisfaction guarantee? I've had it less than 30
days.

Hello,

Thank you for your message. I understand that your product has become
defective.

I have researched our database for the Acoustic Audio warranty and I see
that you did not submit the warranty.

It is Acoustic Audio's policy to register for warranty online within 10
days of purchasing the item in order to activate your warranty. Without
the
warranty filled out, the product is not covered under Acoustic Audio's
warranty policy.

I received another email from andrew at deep discount. Here's another important thing that should also be mentioned. When they say 30 day satisfaction guarantee it is ONLY on a UNOPENED factory sealed box. Let me ask??? How would I know I'd be satisfied if I didn't open it? This "disclaimer" is completley asinine! Kinda like that comercial with the little girl on the bike but can only ride it in the small outlined square. And on top of that they subtract the cost of shipping (if there was free shipping) and a 20% restocking fee. So if you paid 198.00 for a AA HD Sub 12 and you took them up on their 30 satisfaction guarantee (but how would you know you were satisfied cause you can't open it to get your money back). 198.00- 20% restocking fee = 158.4 - 35.00 (free)shipping =123.4...plus you had to ship it back to them right(they won't dare pay for that)??? So another 35 and the total comes out to 88 bucks to send back a sub you couldn't open to see if you liked. WOW! What customer service. Just another friendly warning...oh yeah DO NOT forget to electronically fill out your warranty information AS SOON AS you receive it. Or you won't have a 3 year warranty.

So that's why the sub prices are so low then? Crap customer service and inconsistent quality control. Thankfully I'm one of those that got great working subs from them.

Fortunately, the majority of the people who bought the subs had no problems.

Does anyone know what the power consumption of a SUB-HD10 is when it's switched over to Auto On? The manual say's it doesnt cause damage to the sub because it goes into standby mode. Just wondering how much it draws while in standby mode.

I forgot to register mine too.

However if i do have a problem 2 years from now i wouldn't be too mad since it's not like i paid a lot of money for the sub.

I do wish they would let you register within at least 30 days of receiving it. Even if the 3 years started from the receiving day, they should give a little more time then 10 days.

Dune, what you should do, is recontact them.

Tell them, you never opened it, and you want to return it.

Just seal it back up in the container like new.

If they say anything, just say they must have you confused with someone else.

Just say you bought it, and before you opened it, you decided you wanted something else.

Thanks for the advice Mike and don't think it hasn't crossed my mind but I'm trying out a different driver that Big Daddy let me have . I'm tenacious when it comes to wanting to make things work...especially when so many others have gotten good subs. It still pisses me off however how The Deep Discount does business...besides if I did do that I'd take a huge hit of around a 100 bucks by sending it back and then not have anything to show for it. That's how they get around not refunding you any money. I wonder what they do with the subs they get back? I mean if they really are "unopened" subs then they would make a 20% profit on the sub with their "restocking fee".

Amplifier and other component devices use less electricity in standby mode, but it can still be significant when added for all the households in the country. The following figures are based on a study done in 1999 at the University of California at Berkely.

They found that the combined energy consumption of standby, idle, and play modes of clock radios, portable stereos, compact stereos, and component stereos was about 1.8% of the 1998 national residential electricity consumption. Compact and component stereo systems combined accounted for 84% of this electricity use. This high percentage is due in part to the large fraction of these stereo systems that are used to enhance TV sound.

Audio System Modes Addressed in This Study
  • Line/Tuner/Tape/CD Play: Amplification of an audio signal from an external audio source (line), a tuner, a tape player, or a CD player.
  • Line/Tape/CD Idle: The unit is plugged in and the power switch is in the "on" position, but the unit is not producing sound and no motors are active.
  • Standby: The unit is plugged in and the power switch is in the "off" or "Auto On" position.
  • Disconnected: The unit is unplugged.

This is the power consumption of Samsung TV's in standby mode as test by Crutchfield.

after skimming this forums i have my eyes on the hd10 and the hd12. how does the 10 compare to the 12? i have a 13x13 room and it opened to dinning room. right now im running polk m60 for fronts cs2 and m40s for back, with onkyo 605. i have read that some owners of the hd10 says that the hd10 fills up the room and they are happy with them, but there are so many more hd12 owners. will i be happy with the hd10? or should i get the 12s and not worry about upping? right now im using polk 6750 sub, and i find them very weak. i also live in a townhouse and do not want to disturb the neighbor. will the hd10 pack enough punch? i mostly watch blurays and maybe 10% music and 10 % games.

Get the 12". The difference in price is not that much, particularly if you get lucky on Ebay. In the long-run, you will be happier and less likely to upgrade in the future. They are running out of some models and colors very rapidly. You may have to wailt a while for new stock.

Default New AA owner

Hello everyone, I just finish reading all 106 page for this thread while waiting for my AA RW-Sub12. Hopefully everything is good and worth the $116 I paid for it

I'm thinking of take out the 4 legs and put in 8" table legs that I saw at Lowes, is there anything wrong with that (I have carpet floor) ? Also poly-fill the sub, will one bag from Walmart or Michael good enough ?

Thanks everyone for all the helpful information, especially BD , you're the reason I pulled the trigger

I went to Wally world last night and couldn't find any Poly fill that was fire retardant. I just used some of what I had (blanket type) and pulled it apart in clumps and loosely filled the sub.

Be sure everyone to fill out your warranty for the sub within 10 days of receiving it!!!
