Miker I'm so happy that you are getting thos puppies tomorrow I cannot wait to hear your comments on them.

Actually I found that my C-series opened up after break in but the new CF toned down the RC- will open up for sure.

Medium loud level is fine during break in as long as you don't put to much stress on the drivers it will be ok.

Thanks BigAl for that input. I figured the same. Some classical music and normal tv viewing for a few nights shouldn't put to much stress on them. I'm looking forward to them for sure. I just checked Fed Ex and it just made it to Memphis a few minutes ago, and it still has tomorrow as the delivery date so I guess it will make it.

Default sub for RC10

Hi everyone.
I actually received my new RC10 a few days ago myself. While I'm at work, I 'break-in' the speakers with an easy listening CD, at low volume, about 6 hours a day. Everything seems fine.
At the moment I'm auditioning Energy V10 for the subwoofer (I borrow one from a shop). What I have is Onkyo SR308 receiver, RC10 as fronts, RC Mini center and surround speakers. I put more importance on music listening. In stereo listening to music, I find the V10 blends seamlessly with the RC10. However I find the V10 isn't that loud. I'm not a bass fanatic and put utmost importance on sound quality. But I do find that the V10 is just not loud enough. At the moment I'm also considering SVS (probably PB10 NSD, PB12 NSD, or PC12) subs. Would the SVS be much louder? Would it blend well with the RC10?
Anyone has any experience using RC10 with SVS subs?
Thanks heaps.
my room size is 13 x 21 (3.75m x 6.4m). I can't audition SVS subs in this part of the world.

In a recent trip to a dealer he told me that buying a sub from the same line of speakers is a good idea because they tailor the sub to match. However with that said, I think if you want a more musical sub, the Hsu STF-2 or VTF-2 MK3 would be great options. When I was talking to the dealer I was trying not to give too much info but he sold JL Audio, and I told him I was considering SVS, he said, they make good subs, they aren't as musical as JL's, but for HT, they are very nice, but lack a little bit of texture. When I asked about Hsu, he said, more musical, less HT... But if your looking into either one, you should be happy, although again, they don't have the texture of JL subs. Obviously he is trying to sell what he has, but he still wasn't trying to dog these other good ID brands.

OK, also check the receiver and see if it set the subs gain in the receivers menu back, make sure its at 0 and not like -5 dbs.

HAHA. I didn't know where to put most of the specs, but I figured that my friends here at the Energy thread would back me up!

Default RC-R wall mount

Does anyone have a picture or can anyone explain what the wallmount looks like for the RC-R. I could only faind a picture of the back of the spaker but not the mount. I hope the height will be around the same as my older surrounds.

Thanks for your input.
The level/gain in the receiver is 0.
Here, it seems easier to purchase SVS subs than Hsu subs. From what I've read so far, the SVS sub is likely to be louder than the Energy V10. However, would the SVS be more musical than the V10?

Here you go DLS:

reference-connoisseur-manual_Page_04.jpg

This part attaches to the wall. The male part is attached to the speaker and fits into the keyhole and slides down the slot to hold it in place. The speaker also hangs at a slight downward angle and is not perfectly flush with the wall (see my gallery shots of the RC-R).

Hope that helps!

Thumbs up RC-10 thoughts

Well guys, I've received my RC-10's and have to say I'm very pleased. I have only been able to compare these to some Klipsch, Polk, and Bose speakers from local dealers here in town, and of course my Yamaha's which I currently own, but I have to say that these are some of the best I've heard.
I have to admit that I was a little concerned about the some of the descriptions used for these, such as, laid back, neutral and so on, but I have to say that my concerns have been laid to rest.
They do sound wonderful right out of the box, but after playing some classical music and watching some tv with them for a couple of hours they seem to sound better and better. It's probably due to my ears getting adjusted to them, but they do seem to be sounding better after just a couple of hours.
As you guys have mentioned, there is a very nice balance across the high, mid, and low frequency ranges, without one overpowering the others. Yet there is ample detail and a very clean sound from them. While listening to some Vivaldi guitar concerto music I could hear the guitarist's fingers as they rub against the strings. And TV sounded great through them as well.
Thank you guys for all your help from this very satisfied Energy owner.

Mike

Oh, I have some Handel's Messiah playing on them now and they sound incredible.

I have been listening to Norah Jones a lot over the past few days, and the Energys sound so nice, her voice comes through with a slight touch of airyness and detail.... and the guitar and piano accompanyment is excellently detailed too.... Sometimes I have to ask, why am I looking at other speakers??

It's a little hard to tell with classical music. I'll need to put in some of my favorite southern gospel tunes to test out some bass response. I'm anxious to see how J.D. Sumner and the Stamps sound on these. I bet some southern gospel quartets will sound amazing.
They were a little smaller than I thought they would be. I was kind of surprised, but they sound big though.
I grab the camera and take a few shots. I have them placed on top of my old speakers at the moment, which places the tweeters slightly below ear level. I will eventually get stands, but I may need to put something under them to lift them up a little bit. They still sound great though.

Thanks Bluray_ne1! I think it's actually good that it angles down slightly. They should fit perfect on my wall. The holes seem pretty close as well. Love your HT man you made things work nice in that room!

Her SACD is one my wife really likes to relax to. I just noticed the last time I listened to the 5.1 mix that on some tracks only instruments were coming from the center channel and no vocals. It sounded like she was right up there though. Wonder why it was recorded like that when a center speaker is actually in use. Sounds amazing though I don't know why some people don't like the mix.
Sometimes checking out other speakers makes you appreciate what you got even more! I still like to listen to whatever I can whenever I get a chance.
