Interesting - here's how the final rankings would have looked using the old BCS formula. Even using that formula, FSU would have made it, edging out Texas for the #4 spot.

3. Alabama .8730
4. FSU .8708

You mean they should be matched against FSU where they would have an easy time and Alabama is a tough matchup? If so, then why doesn't Bama deserve to get in? One of the criteria was choosing the best teams going into the playoffs. And they can't pick Georgia because they just lost to the Tide and OSU didn't play.

What doesn't make sense to me is Texas jumping 4 places in the rankings by beating an opponent only ranked 18th, while Alabama moves up only 3 by beating the #1 team in the country.

The only team getting screwed is FSU.

I technically worded it wrong. FSU did get screwed yes. Technically so did Alabama.

Michigan and its fans really have no morale ground to stand on. Everyone is outraged that FSU did not get in but Michigan & Alabama did.

Michigan even ranked number 1 should have been out, the cheating scandal hangs heavy over the past 2 years. Harbaugh was suspended for sign stealing and recording. He is also being investigated for improper recruiting during COVID 19. These improprieties in the program align with their rise to number 1 in the rankings.

Before anyone jumps to Michigan's defense a low level staffer does not just get 30k /yr worth of tickets to opposing teams home and away games on a 52k/yr salary.

Michigan should be giving up its spot to FSU if it truly cared about College football.

Everyone is outraged over FSU I get it but why is no one outraged over Michigan. Michigan wanted to adopt this Michigan vs Everybody mantra, Harbaugh these 3 wins are for you etc etc. They don't get to have morale highroad here.

Michigan cheated plain and simple, they should not be in the the playoffs.

I hate the fact that ESPN has control of at least 90% of the bowl games.

They gave up 28 at the Holiday Bowl and won the game with the 2nd string QB.

What an odd, painful Cotton Bowl. I know Ohio St. was short their QB, but those teams both has solid offenses all season. Didn't expect a 17 total point snooze fest.

Ryan Day probably has one more year left to beat Michigan and/or make the playoff and win a game or two.

Anyone with half a brain could have that record. Let’s face it, half the B1G isn’t great, most non-conference games are weak and or smaller teams. He has a losing bowl record and a losing record against Michigan. His playcalling is atrocious and he won’t give it up. He is soft.

Did Ohio State even really want to be in this bowl game? I bet they didn't. As of right now, Maryland is sticking it to Auburn in the Music City Bowl 21-0 in the 1st Q. I did not see that coming, but there is still a lot of time left in this one.

Watching the Barstool Sports Bowl game on the CW Network between Wyoming and Toledo. The 3 guys that are calling it are beyond obnoxious and very loud (one is Dave Portnoy, he does those pizza reviews on Youtube.) It's almost like a joke of a broadcast and the sideline reporter has long hair down to his shoulders with a cheesy mustache to boot. They keep saying these crazy off the wall comments with just about anything. One play this RB broke away going about 5 yards on the run, one announcer screams 'he's gone, he's gone" about 3 yards later the running back was tackled.

Deflect all you like, but had the FSU players taken the game seriously (and not more than two dozen opted out) and had they won, it was entirely possible for FSU to claim a mythical national championship by being undefeated from a Power 5 conference. I'm certain that some organization, perhaps even the AP, would have crowned them national champions just to stick it to the CFP Committee.

Instead, all that hand-wringing about showing the middle finger to the CFP Committee and giving them a giant FU goes down the tubes -- spectacularly.

Oh, well. Better luck next year.
