I had the 900E, can’t stand it and upgraded the following year with X900F. A much better TV although the spec is virtually identical. The F is more forgiving when playing streaming due the better video processor.

That's nice to hear, but I sure wish Sony would drop that X Wide Angle nonsense that they decided to infect every other model of large LED TV with.

Thanks. I'll be interested in hearing what he has to say. If it's just a setting on my player, I'd like to correct it.

If my query can help cause you to buy more analytical techie toys, that's something positive right there.
I can do the exact time stamps, it's just hassle to get the right photo, as the bitrates change so frequently. If he needs them, I'll re-do it.

Just checked on a Sony UBP-X800 and it shows about the same results as your Oppo UDP-203. At about the 3' 10" mark it hit almost 92 Mbps. I'm sure my 203 would show the same as yours.

Readers need to keep in mind this video only, the audio hovers around 4.5 to 5 Mbps.

Vilya you could have taken shots of any BD or UHD BD being played on the Oppo 203 instead of combined Mbps transfer in normal info to enhanced info (hold the info button down to break it down.

But normally most BD's well mastered can show anything from 20 - 40 Mbps bitrate (combined video +audio). UHD BD's usually are 55-85 Mbps bitrate, but can hit close to 100 Mbps at times.

Look at this older thread from 2011. Blu-rays with Video Bitrate of 40 Mbps?

Example
Quote:
A lot of Paramount and Fox Blu-rays average in the 30's for AVC encodes. Criterion selectively will use around 35 Mbps, if there is a minimal amount of extra features on the BD. Other studios for the most part are much worse, often releasing discs that average under 25 Mbps.
Good morning guys. On PST time, so I respond later.

I am glad that your results were comparable to mine and on a different brand of 4K disc player. Thanks for checking; I didn't even think this movie would be up your alley.

Thanks for the reminder about the enhanced information option, but all I was after was the bitrate at a few different times.

The bigger question is why does SCLee's Panasonic player display far lower bitrates for the exact same 4K disc? Wendell's Sony X800 and my Oppo 203 are showing similar results at the same times, but SCLee is getting something entirely different.

For those that use spreadsheets

Code:
File size in GB XX
Length in Minutes YYYY
Data rate in Mbps (((XX*8)*1e9)/(YYYY*60))/(1e6)

The Sony and Oppo are both using MTK SoC's so their bitrate info would be similar. What is SCLee's player model?

UHD specs
50 GB (dual-layer, 82 Mb/s)
66 GB (dual-layer, 108 Mb/s)
100 GB (triple-layer, 128 Mb/s)

SCLee said he was using a Panasonic DP-UB391 and a Panasonic DMP-UB300. His displayed bitrate results are vastly different than ours.

See some of SCLee's results here:

I have yet to watch it in 3D; 4K is grand, sure, but 3D is just more funner.

I posted a query about that to the 820/9000 thread. I didn't see any online comments quickly on that topic.

Hopefully someone can respond.

It is just really odd for two different model Panasonic players to be behaving this way; makes me wonder if some player setting could be causing it? It's a mystery; hopefully someone in that Panasonic thread can explain it.

Chip75 suggested that he try a factory reset. In the states we have only UB420/UB820/UB9000 models. The two he has are almost the same model.

Now if he doesn't have deep color active on a 4K display he will not see that great increase of bitrate via HDR as one possibility.

Thanks Vilya, your Bitrates are in line with the size of the Movie File, but SCLee shows Bitrates way lower. Could it be the HDMI Cable used? I know they have Bandwidth limitations.

I doubt it is the hdmi cable; if his hdmi cable did not have the necessary bandwidth for 4K he would likely be experiencing major problems with his picture quality. Still, swapping out the hdmi cable is an easy thing to test in case his are faulty for any reason.

Premium high speed HDMI cables with a speed of 18 Gbps are what is needed here, but he likely knows that.

It has nothing to do with the cable.
