My calendar reads March 31st and, no, I don't care that it is after midnight in the U.K.

Go to bed; you must be tired after watching your digital rental.

Definitely no pie OR ice cream for you now.

If it’s April 1st here, it’s April first. Time zones be damned!

Just a quick follow up. The new HDMI cable didn't make any difference to the (picture) bitrate meter, but oddly it did make a difference to the sound meter (which is reading at 5 - 7.5 mbps instead of the 4 mbps it was before.)

Knives Out looks fantastic on UHD disc, very filmic (if that's a word.)

Progress? Sorta?

It is good to have the right hdmi cable regardless of the erroneous Panasonic video bitrate meter. HDR and Dolby Vision will benefit from the premium high speed HDMI cable as per that Digital Trends article that I linked to earlier.

I won't pay £15.99 for a rental! I could own a UHD disc for that and there are so many £4.49 / £5.49 film rentals that I haven't seen.

I've been saying this for a while. lol. Was it really an April fools?

It is indeed a word.

How is it as a movie, though? It is sitting on my wishlist at the moment.

I put Star Trek Beyond in. It was still running at under 30 mbps a lot of the time, but it also ran at 38 - 48 mbps consistently. An improvement with the cable or maybe just the film. However, when I pressed the skip button and it went to the next chapter it read 80 mbps and dropped off to 40, it actually read 110 mbps then dropped to 27 mbps. Panasonic's meters sure are broken.

Haven't made up my mind which player to get to replace the 300. I want a bitrate meter but at the same time, Panasonics HDR10+ models don't seem to have them, and on this evidence, it probably wouldn't work anyway.

Accurate meter or not, you have the right hdmi cable now and the wonky meter does not affect your player's actual performance.

I just ordered 7 of the Stars Wars movies on 4K disc from the Disney Movie Club. I couldn't bring myself to order the prequels, though. Maybe someday.

My copy is arriving next week. It will then be put in storage for next year. Got to get through the barren times.

The only reason for me to consider the DP-UB9000 was the HDR10 tone mapping and several Panasonic's are said to be the best at this. Now that JVC has added dynamic tone mapping to several of their projectors (a future purchase ?) I have removed the current Panny's from my short list because they are missing features that are must haves for me.

Good luck on your search.

Now that I have installed a new lamp into the projector, installed a region free mod into the Oppo, it is time to catch up on some 3-D and region B BD titles in my library.

Enjoy. The House Of Wax is fantastic in 3D by the way. If you have a chance to get it, I would go for it. Same with The Walk, Gravity and Inferno. All top notch.

I forgot, but what size screen do you use? 3D on a whopping big screen will be groovy gravy .
