With how long that movie dragged are we sure that wasn't already the director's cut?

Also, doesn't really need to be a comparison with Marvel. It's just so different. Thor 2 got 66 rotten tomatoes and Iron Man 2 got 70 and those two are superficial messes. Batman v Superman has some great content.
Just my personal opinion but BvS and Avengers are top 2 for me on even level.

Guardians is probably my favorite but Man of Steel is my 2nd favorite. Completely different films, tough to rank them.

I'm a Batman mark, but I have high opinions of the Nolan films and this one. Best Wayne/Batman interpretation I've seen so far. Bale just never really took the role the way I thought he would, and his performance was by far overshadowed by the cast and villains around him. Ledger, Hardy, Eckhart, Caine, Freeman, Cotillard, Neeson all gave better performances than Bale.

No, just better than stuff like BVS and Avengers. Look, I care about these characters as much as anyone, this thread doesn't state that only people who are happy with the film can post? Some folks act like they have ownership on these characters and anyone daring to question a director or a certain choice/scene is a plant or a Marvel fanboy. It's pathetic IMO.

My wish is for standalone Batman films to stand up to Nolan's trilogy. That would be great. I thought Affleck was very good but I will judge him after another film because he didn't have nearly as much dialogue as Bale did in Batman Begins. So far, I am encouraged. I also thought a couple of fight scenes were very well done. Apart from that I thought it wasn't great. History will state it wasn't very good but as long as it makes money that seems to be enough for some?

Saw this yesterday. Quite a spectacle but feeling pretty flat about it over all. One thing that stuck in my mind during the last battle.
[Show spoiler]Did we ever see WW pull out the lasso and use it on Doomsday? I remember her fighting with the sword, then Superman saving Lois and while he was unable to move with the spear next to him he was 2 minutes later able to fly with it in his hand (not as bad as in Returns where he lifted a Kryptonite island) and the next shot the lasso is around Doomsday. I don't remember seeing her actually pull it out and use it. It just kind of appeared around him.

Yes.

[Show spoiler]The Lasso was used trying to hold Doomsday still until Superman could put the staff in. She used the Lasso and Bats used the final kryptonite smoke grenade so Doomsday was groggy enough to get the staff.

EDIT I get your question. We never see her actually pull it out and use it but when Supes came flying in with the staff she was already trying to strangle Dooms.

Of course you did. Marvel movies are filled with nobody superheroes no one cares about if not for their movies.

So a half decent DC movie like this is going to be better than the best Marvel can come up with, because not only is it enjoyable, but it's about characters you recognise and have liked your whole life, and other people know about them, and you can chat with them about it.

Like my boss doesn't know superheroes, so every time he hears about a new Marvel movie he goes "who?" and when he heard about this one he enthusiastically asked "who wins?"

This is also why when DC stuff up a movie, like Superman IV or Batman and Robin, it feels like a crime and people talk about it for decades, constantly going back to it and citing it as an example of a bad movie. It ruined something great. But when Marvel stuffs up, like the Thor movies, people only complain about on the walk out, and then never remember it again. And when you tell people you saw Thor, they think you saw a movie about Nordic mythology because no one associated that name with comic book heroes.

I never said any of that. Marvel was actually my first love. Started with the 90's X-Men and Spidey shows and my brother introduced me to the Avengers characters afterwards. I didn't like Batman TAS as much as the other two until I got older and watched it as a teen/adult.

I think the movie is more than half decent. The complaints I've seen about it are superficial. I will agree the movie was edited choppily. It felt parts were missing that I hope are included in the D-Cut. Supes' theme being used like 10 times was also meh. But I saw the story, I saw the plot unfold, and considering the depth of these characters had to be expanded I think Snyder did well in cramming into one movie.

Keep in mind I read the horrors of the reviews and complaints for a full 4-5 days before I saw it (embargo was lifted to when I watched it).

Also for the record I don't care about the rest of the justice league. Never was fond of Supes even with TAS. Wonder Woman is alright. I did watch the Justice League series but my favorite parts were always Batman related especially with Ace.

Frankly I know more about Marvel characters than all DC characters minus the Batman universe. Because I've never cared for Aquaman, Flash, Supes, Cyborg, Martian, Lantern, etc. Batman villains always interested me and just how brutal their backgrounds are.

I am a Joss Whedon fan and I can say that he doesn't understand jack squat about DC characters, the guy even has a problem with marvel characters that are "winners" like Captain Marvel.
When he wrote a Wonder Woman movie he essentially wrote a movie about Donna Troy unveiling the original Wonder Woman's legacy.

I loved Buffy, Firefly/Serenity, Avengers and Age of Ultron but for DC comics Snyder is a much better fit whether you like it or not.

Yep. I couldn't help but compare the showdown between Supes and Batman to that of Iron Man and Hulk or Iron Man and Thor... and they don't hold up.

they arent really comparable as the Marvel characters werent out for blood/death -
[Show spoiler] Batman was. His savagry and obsession for Supermans demise was captured perfectly until he magically was convinced to swap sides

The Marvel fights were more defensive in a 'gimme that back' child's fight.

Great moves and highly entertaining in both types of fight, IMO.
