So far this year I'd vote Oregon RB LaMichael James for Heisman and probably Ingram and Moore #2 and 3. Thankfully Denard Robinson showed how overrated he is against Michigan St. with that poor performance. I'm sure given time Pryor will lay an egg against somebody, probably Iowa, and fall back in the Heisman race.

No doubt. I'm sick of the annual Ohio State lovefest. MSU has beaten two ranked teams, and sits out of the top 10 while Ohio State has played no one and is #1. LOL.

While I dislike OSU, I hope as many teams as possible are undefeated at the end of the year to wreak havoc on the BCS.

I read about that earlier. It doesn't sound like it's a huge issue, Caleb King just failed to appear in traffic court, but when it's the 11th arrest this year it points to a bigger problem. I don't think having a poor year would be enough to get Richt fired, but the disciplinary issues (along with a new AD) definitely have Richt on the hot seat, especially if they miss a bowl game. It may come down to how willing boosters are to donate money to pay Richt's buyout, which is reportedly around $5 million. I would also think they'd first want to gauge Will Muschamp's interest in the job, because you don't want to fire Richt and find out your top choices aren't interested in the job.

Funny stuff. Here are what the BCS standings would be right now if they brought out a poll this early. The reason Ohio St. is only #5 in the BCS ranking is due to their very week strength of schedule.

Quote:
Team Rating
1. Boise State .913
2. Oregon .863
3. TCU .854
4. Oklahoma .8425
5. Ohio State .8421
6. LSU .782
7. Nebraska .777
8. Auburn .744
9. Michigan State .642
10. Alabama .634

Wonder why the computers like Boise State more than Oregon and Oklahoma, I know why they like Boise State more than TCU though.

True, but Wisconsin (#18) and Iowa (#15) are ranked in the AP Poll's top 25 and both will be facing the Buckeyes in the coming weeks. Tressel has an even record against the Badgers (3-3), though he has done slightly better on the road than at Ohio Stadium. If the Bucks are going to falter, it will be in Wisconsin.

Too much weight / importance is placed on mid-season rankings, especially in college football. Anyone who has followed this sport long enough knows that i) all rankings are purely arbitrary, and ii) most (not all) ranked teams have a habit of stumbling at some point on their respective calendars.

I watched a mock BCS ranking last night on ESPN and Boise State held the #1 ranking, Oregon was #2 and the Bucks sat at #10. Are the positions illogical? It depends on who you ask. Until a playoff system is instituted and the majority of these bowl games are tossed, you will never have a true national champion. When a handful of teams every year go undefeated, how do you determine who is more deserving of the #1 ranking at season's end? The BCS system is a farce, and will always be.

Here are the strength of schedule rankings at the moment. Not sure exactly how Boise is so far ahead in the BCS ranking. The SEC schools and Oklahoma have by far the toughest schedules so far.

LSU - 5th
Oklahoma - 7th
Auburn - 31st
Boise St. - 52nd
Ohio St. - 65th
TCU - 68th
Nebraska - 80th
Oregon - 90th

True but I'd be absolutely shocked if Wisconsin ends up in the Top 25 by year end. They have a habit of playing easy schedules to start the year only to collapse later in the year. There's a very good chance the team ending the regular season ranked that OSU plays is Iowa.

I still want to see more proof from the top 3

*Didn't put OSU (1 because I dislike them so, and 2 because its hilarious they lose 2 games last year and move up the rankings to #2 if Boise had lost they wouldn't even be in the top 10 yet OSU can lose twice and move up ) They should be around 6-9.

Sorry but people are not factoring in strength of schedule enough. You can't even begin to compare the schedule these SEC teams and Oklahoma have played and schools like Ohio St. and TCU have played.

Agree SoS should play a MUCH bigger roll then it does. Like in college basketball for the teams on the bubble.

And that's the thing with Boise. Their strength of schedule actually isn't THAT bad at the moment. Right now it's 52nd/120 schools in D1. But the thing is the rest of their schedule is garbage. The only even marginally decent game they have left is against Nevada on the road. By season end my guess is Boise St. ends up with a SOS ranking around 75th or worse. Even running the table might not get them in a title game.

While we are railing against how corrupt the current system is, I would love to see Ohio State go undefeated and get their asses kicked in the title game. Not because I want to see a bad title game, but to show how poorly the BCS works as a system for determining the national championship.

Edit - My wife and I got back from Florida this afternoon, there's no way I'll catch up in all these sports threads. But I'll say this, what a piss poor weekend of football it was for me. Both the Hurricanes and Bills lost.

Secondly, does anyone else get tired of seeing LSU get lucky every other week and win games they really shouldn't be winning?

The schedule has favoured the Badgers thus far (unwelcome visit by Michigan State two weeks ago excluded ), but the second half could add another two, maybe three losses; it depends on how they fare against their Big Ten rivals Ohio State (this Saturday), Iowa and Michigan.

Iowa's defence has held its own thus far (ranked #1 in points and TDs allowed after the first 5 weeks), but the true test is still to come, when they face ranked opponents in back-to-back weeks: #18 Wisconsin on 10/23 and #13 Michigan State on 10/30. If the Hawkeyes can hold their own in both games, it's possible that the Big Ten title could be up for grabs when they face OSU on 11/20.
