It seems like you like the American releases in the CC. If so, try Bigger Than Life, Paris, Texas or Charade.

If you want to branch out, besides House, you can try El Norte, Everlasting Moments, Wages of Fear, or Secret of the Grain...some of my favs!

Either way, there are SO MANY you absolutely can't go wrong with!

Somebody posted this on the Criterion facebook page...it got me sort of excited...

"I dont know if this is news or not but if you go to high def digest they posted a few criterion films blu ray release date as pending...
Ace in the hole, Monterey pop, fugitive kind, the game, gimmie shelter, hamlet, homicide, the missing, shadows, salo, and Z."

EDIT: Actually, I just had to change my shorts.

My local library is pretty awesome, they have Criterion movies for rent! They have Equinox, Do The Right Thing, Black Narcissus , The Life Aquatic, The Royal Tenabuams, Ace In The Hole and also RoboCop I believe.

Those would be some fantastic releases. I would very much like to see Homicide and Z on Blu-ray.

Shadows? If thats true, I would think they would just rerelease the John Cassavetes box set, no?
Criterion should put out Love Streams too...

And why are they comparing the two films? Hollywood blockbuster vs one of the most lauded puzzle films of all time, was anyone actually arguing that Inception required as much from the viewer?

I know...but there are listings on the HighDef Digest new release date page for those and Walkabout as well. The listing for Gimme Shelter says, "Gimme Shelter (incomplete)" so I don't know what that is.

Are you under the Clevnet library system? If you are, they have almost all of the Criterion Collection in their online catalog which you can borrow and have delivered to your local library.

I have been holding off on all the Olivier Shakespeare films hoping they would soon come to Blu as BFI has released 2 of them

Yes they do! I tell people this all the time here. There' s no need for Netflix in this area.

I'm too far South for such an awesome library! I must find a way to get access to it.

Shadows? Why not Faces or Opening Night or A Woman Under the Influence? Shadows, while I'll be happy with a Cassavetes blu, is the least of the set I would want. I could see a whole Cassavetes blu box, since the BBS set was great.

I don't think it's real anyways. Fugitive Kind/Z would be the 1st films to have gone back and done a blu of after they have done blu releases. If so, I'll be pissed because Dillinger is Dead should get the same, since they would of had to go back and get the rights to Fug Kind's blu release, when Dillinger is a Janus film and should be easy to release.

Thank you "young/punk/rebel" type!

Hey CG!...How much of a coincidence is this? I'm listening to a "Prog Rock" Internet radio station right now and they are playing The Velvet Underground. Specifically "Venus in Furs".
